I would crash in the awards screen when I clicked on an award. Furthermore, I couldn't play NS saying that I had modified content etc. and I couldn't select a NS unlock.


1- Uninstall and reinstall 2142.
2- Download and install the 1.40 patch.
3- Install Northern Strike (if you have Northern Strike otherwise skip this step.)
4- Install the 1.40 full patch again.
5- Download and install the 1.40 to 1.50 incremental patch.

Problem fixed.

I figured out the only way to fix this battlefield glitch was to reinstall battlefield 2142 then get battlefield 1.40 patch and then get the incremental patch. (if you had northern strike you would do 1.40 patch then northern strike then 1.40 again then the 1.50 incremental patch) it should fix the problem.

I would be curious to know if you people with XP o/s are having problems accessing your badges or if this is a problem related to Vista and the 1.50 patch.

i had the same prob when i had xp; just installed vista within the last week. biggest common issue i'm seeing has to do w/ the patch. i used the full patch & not the incremental patch. maybe you're onto something w/ the full patch having an issue.

If I install the game, patch it to 1.40 and then add the 1.40 to 1.50 patch, I can access my ribbons and badges without the game CTD. However, I then have some minor Vista related playing problems. If I install the game and do the full 1.50 patch, then the game plays fine but if I click on one of the badges or medals, it will CTD. Something in the full 1.50 patch is messed up as far as the accessing of badges. I would be curious to know if you people with XP o/s are having problems accessing your badges or if this is a problem related to Vista and the 1.50 patch.

i wonder what you people have in common that's causing this. i don't have any issue with the BFHQ. are you guys playing deluxe version or EA link or anything different?

i have the original dvd (from the day the game was released) and have patches galore from there on out...including the patch released on the day the game was released:laugh::laugh::laugh: the only thing i have through the EA downloader is NS, which also doesn't work since the 1.50 patch.

Having the same problem. Did a complete uninstall and cleared cache. Did not work.
I wanna punch a rabbit now.

No, I just re-installed BF2142 after not playing since the month it came out. (I was in Korea for a year) It's a fairly clean installation of Windows, I reformatted about a month ago, and I installed BF2142 retail DVD version followed by full patch 1.50. I don't have any mods or NS.
If I click any badges or awards other than pins in my BFHQ, I'm looking at the desktop with no error message or anything.
If this is the last patch, and it sucks this much, I'm really glad I haven't played in the last 1 1/2 years...

I get the same problem. I've tried many things but none work.

I really want to see how many more kills I need for the 8000 kill aircraft medal!

I remember trying bf2142 without any patches and the awards worked fine so it might be the new patch.

I am having the exact same problem. This is a fresh install of BF2142 with 1.5 full patch installed. This is game has just way too many bugs... well its actually true for the entire BF series.

The way I fixed my BFHQ bug was to uninstall the game, then go through and manually uninstall every file related to BF2142, as many are left after the uninstall process. I found that the hard way after uninstalling the entire game then reinstalling it, with all patches, only to find it still didn't solve the problem. EA should really be ashamed that their software is this poorly implemented that an end user has to worry about manually uinstalling files, the order of patching, deleting cache files, etc, etc, etc.

Same here. I think its somehow connected with that points-not-updating problem :/

It was wworking few days with new patch for me and than suddenly bah ctd.
Hope they fix it soon or write some sollution.



PS. Btw i had the same problem with "Audio options" few months ago, but than cleanin caches was the solution... now its not:/
