    Memory Editor

I started messing around BF2 with a memory editor recently, here are my findings:

I found out how to format chat text (Large, gold, non ASCII characters).

Change my name to nothing, in all views, all menus (no red overhead).

Change my name to anything 5 chars or under, except non ASCII.

I was even able to make a big gold squad.

Also, I'm pretty sure that big or gold names cannot be used online anymore (at least not with tag editing).

Really, I'm amazed at what an amatuer can do to this game. I'm also more amazed at the ignorance of some admins (I did NOT use these online, except in my friend's server, under a different account name, to test them). I went into a server with my clan tag set to all spaces, and the admins started freaking till I explained. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I'm just realizing how hackable games are, maybe this one more than others.

Useless really. If you dont get kicks by PB then admins will kick you. Maybe 1 time you could explain that it is a bug but doing it constantly would yield a ban/kick for sure. And if you explain that you messed with editor they will think you changed BF2 system core files and then ban guaranteed

Like I said, I only tested these on my friend's server, and PB did not kick.

And they are not useless; many people would love to utilize these. My only interest was to see if I could do it. And I did, quite easily. Seems to me that a variation of this comprises name hacks, and it would also seem that a simple patch could eliminate them.

Care to explain how this is done or would you rather keep the technique a secret so that it doesn't end up abused?

I'd like a name change every now and then without having to start a new account.

I'm going to kill this thread right here. Being someone with code experience, I know exactly how dangerous this is.

Memory sniffing can also be used to do a lot of things with games which are much more nefarious than simply changing your name, not to mention the fact that you're risking having your account and CD key banned by EA for a ToS violation. I won't mention anything any further since we don't want any copycats.
