Recently I have been getting these quick spikes while playing. I turned on the lag-o-meter and the bottom portion has a quick red jump every time I lag out.
On the servers I play on, my ping is from 50 to 100. I have all the latest drivers and updates. System is new.
Specs:
XP Pro SP2
Intel Q6600 2.4Ghz
4Gig RAM
8800 GTS 512
X-Fi Xtreme Gamer soundcard
Things I have tried to correct this:
-Turned off AV and Windows firewall
-Updated punkbuster
-Updated drivers (chipset, video, sound, and NIC)
-Flashed BIOS
Also, this only happens in CoD4, other online games work fine, so I dont think there is an ISP or equipment issue.
One item I am going to try is the "pb_sleep 500" to see if its caused from auto updates.
Anything else I could try or anyone else who had this type of problem and fixed it?
