new 880gt OC - too many options - plz advise

this card is GREAT = only $179 after rebate
but there are toooooooooooo many options (tweaking)
not even counting the overclock tools
so, who can share the best settings?
    my system:
    winXP SP1
    4 gb ram
    p4 3.2Mhz
    on board audio (realtek)
    21"crt 1600x1200x85hz
would like best settings possible and maintain \MINIMUM of 60 fps
(ie during heavy loads - which means 80-100 fps typical)
right now - I can get 60-80 / / but slows to 45-60 under load
this is on all on highest, or even many on low
(ie seems to make little difference on what I tweak 0 in game or using nvidia control panel - just got rivatuner - but did not try it yet

    my DSL is 5Mb
    thanks in advance

I too have an 8800GT OC, great card. Don't mess with your NVIDIA Control Panel settings, it isn't necessary. I play with everything maxed including 8x Anti-aliasing at 1280x960 and it plays smooth. I don't notice any slowdown. If I set it at 1600x1200 to more closely match my 1680x1050 native resolution I might experience slowdown.

well - depends on what you mean no slowdown
I maxed out EVERYTHING at first also = it looked great
      till I ran fps
then noticed it dipped or ran slow at times
(ie went from 60/70 down to 40/50)
I know - still great, but in heavy action melee
      it does effect game play
plus - many say they are running well over 100fps
at all maxed out - and I cannot
am I cpu limited? - do not think so, because I got 80-100 fps before with all on low

      thanks for your reply

You are CPU limited, I'm afraid.

You could overclock the 88GT but generally you're better off with a new processor if you can afford one.

You could try keeping it maxed out but reducing your resolution.

1600 x 1200 is big, maybe too big.

Try deleting your shader cache, sometimes that can free up some FPS. I have taht same card with everything maxed out I rarely dip below 100.
