Long time no post, but the clan is looking at playing BF2 here and there so I set myself up to play this again, and now I get the above message usually after 10-20 seconds in a server, it freezes up, and I'm disconnected. I checked pings before I get the boot and things look just fine. I can move, etc, for the small amount of time I'm in-game, but am booted rather quickly.
I'm playing on a PC that I game COD4, WiC, CoH, CSS on with no issues. This same PC played BF2 from the day it came out up until maybe 6-9 months ago. I am not using that install, and am using a fresh install.
I have:
Installed BF2 (and reinstalled) using the delux edition w/sf.
Patched correctly (using incremental / etc...)
I completely deleted the contents of the pb folder and used pbsetup.exe to install the latest version of the client files (done this 2-3x). I also tried entering a server NOT running pb and I still disconnected.
I can play SP without any issues.
My rig:
abit mobo w/athlon 4600+ manchester
2gb GSkill ram
400gb sata hd
sata dvd drive
audigy 4
x2900pro 1gb ddr4
Same internet connection I've always used (and use with current games).
The vid card is the only real new thing since I last played, maybe the sata dvd drive. I have the most recent drivers on everything. Even tried running at low/med settings to make sure there was no issue.
I'm at a loss....
