    Buffer Overrun Error

    Ok, so when I install BF2 it gets to the end of the installation with the bar all the way full, and then it says:

    "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

    Program: ...nic Arts\Battlefield 2\BF2VoiceSetup.exe

    A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program's internal stat. The program cannot safely continue execution and must now be terminated."

    This causes the game to crash after loading a map when trying to play single or multiplayer in either game. If you have any ideas on how to fix please post them.

    I'll be checking back here frequently, so ask any questions you need and I'll respond as fast as I can.

    Doesnt sound like a problem with bf2, more like your operating system.
    Check that you have all the latest windows updates.
    Also try googleing "Visual C++ error" or along that lines. I looked but alot shows problems with windows 2000 and please dont tell me your running windows 2000 lol.

      Re: Buffer Overrun Error

      I have the latest Windows updates and I'm running XP, and I've also updated Microsoft Visual C++ to the latest 2008 version. I have found that when I turn off VOIP manually (through my profile CON file) that I can load a map, but when I turn it on the game crashes after loading a map. Also I can't click on the audio tab in the options because the game crashes.

      Oh, do you think that having an integrated audio card could be causing this?

        It could, but bf2 should work just fine with integrated audio.

        I would try changing your audio mode to "software" instead of "hardware". you may have to edit your audio.con file manually - its in /my documents/bf2/profiles/

            Hmmmm, I do have a program called Tunebite on my computer that I use for DRM ripping which causes Windows to think I have 10 different sound devices. But I don't have a TV card.

            And this forum link may be helpful.

            Thanks for the responses guys.

            PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!

            I uninstalled the DRM ripping program and got rid of all the extra sound channels and now it works!!!
