    Medics

Does anyone know if we will have medics like the previous versions of battlefield?

From what I can gather from the single player you have a needle which you inject into yourself to get extra health. Will this be present in the multiplayer or will we have medics giving out health packs and reviving people like the previous games?

I don't think that there is Medic class anymore...

Im pretty sure that support took over the health department..

I saw that in one video while back.. There was this support guy who threw medic boxes around...

And about that injector needle, im not sure if that is in MP, but in SP it works as an health pouch. It re-generates your health, and it takes some time to re-charge...

Thats a shame. I liked being the assualt / medic class in the previous games. I'm not a big fan of the support machine guns as the accuracy isn't usually as good as the assualt rifles.

          ^^

          You wish..

But i'd say it's adrenalin(spelling?!)... Since morphine makes the pain go away. But adrenalin get's you going...

Besides you don't hit morphine injection to your chest like shown in the SP videos...

            Re: Medics

Yeah, the assault kit is equipped with the needle that you can heal yourself with. The reason behind it is because assualt is what most people use and it's the class in which is made to be the front line of any war, so you'd need the adrenaline/morphine (mysterious liquid in a needle that gives you health) more than any other class. :)

The needle though, is found in both Multiplayer and Singleplayer. Hopefully though, your health depletes faster in MP than in the SP mode, because after seeing some of the videos, the AI looks tough, but not exactly hard to kill, but yet the character you play barely receives any damage at all unless you're being surrounded by explosions that are 3 to 5 feet away. :|:

Of course, with the 'mysterious healing needle,' it's easy to avoid dying in the SP mode, as it seems.

The new 'medic' class though, is support, like StoneCold313 stated. You can check out the video on the official Bad Company site:

            Check it out!

The scene you're looking for starts around 1 min, 30 seconds into the video.

            Dang it... Too late. :p

            Where do you inject morphine?

...Or do I really want to know? :)

True, medics should be carrying the least equipment as possible in order to be fully capable of doing their job by reaching places other cannot and helping their fellow soilders. I'm guessing that playing as the support class, you have less sprint and probably run a bit slower than the other classes. :|:

Medics on the battlefield, truly have a difficult job in real life.

But, as far as the accuracy of the LMG's, you can always go prone. They work much better that way, and I think they are probably more accurate in real life than they turn out in the game. If you compared the m249 machine gun in bf2 to Call of Duty 4, you'd see the difference. I hope this turns out more like COD4, which is way more realistic. :)

I had to come back with my PS3 and edit the message.. :p

And im pretty sure that morphine goes to your arm... With an iv(that the right word?) for example...

              About the support class...

I hope that DICE really makes the SAW and other weapons feel like support weapons... In BF2, it felt like they were shooting rice or something..

And thb, im really looking foward to put some fire downrange and making some noise with the support weapons...

                Re: Medics

The problem I see is that having to go prone all the time to get accuracy means you can' really be on the front line which is where the medic is needed most. Which is why I thought assualt was the better class to be medic.

Maybe this will make support a more popular class.

There is no prone in the game(apperantly)... It has been taken out, because of the balance to the sniper class. It seems that the ghillie works in this game, and when prone sniper would be nearly invisible...

So no need to dolphin dive anymore to kill someone with the SAW...

Seems like a strange decision to make not being able to go prone. No more sniping from rooftops. You might as well stick a sign saying "Shoot Me" next to you.

                      Re: Medics

It really is strange but if the ghillie works so well that it makes you invisible... It really messes up the balance of the game. Same thing with Cod 4 and the silenced m21.. That would have made sniper class superior to other classes.. You can't kill what you can't see...

Here's the short version of the story from EA's forums..

                      http://forums.ea.com/mboards/thread....65257&tstart=0

I just wanted everyone to be able to easily read the entire reason. I think lot's of people are not getting the full story.

"Prone – we won’t be implementing prone in the game, primarily as a balance issue for the recon class.

We playtested extensively here, and with prone the recon class becomes invisible, which is really imbalances the game.

As I’m sure you’ve noticed from the Beta, the recon class is powerful enough already…"
He ain't admin or anything, but he still posted the reason for no prone...

But if you look it from the other angle, it truely is something "never seen before" and im personally looking foward to it. And to see how it works...

Im pretty sure that we will get rid of the most "n00b" snipers.. And the one's who will still play as sniper, has to come up with new tactics...

                        Re: Medics

It just seems silly that you can't go prone just because the sniper is almost invisible when prone. Isn't that the point of the ghillie suit? Would it not be better to make the suit a little more visible (like the one in bf2) than to restrict all classes because of a feature of 1 class?

Most weapons in previous battlefield games gain an accuracy bonus when proning. The LMG's are a great example of this. You don't want people with LMG's running around killing people like assault because of the high rate of fire and power it would make it unfair and would be detrimental to the assault class.

With 2142 I think they got it spot on as far as balance was concerned. They seemed to have ironed out the problems with dolphin diving and firing while jumping and the weapons for each class were really balanced.

I'm all for new ideas but this just seems like a backwards step rather than something that will benefit the game. I wouldn't be suprised if proning was reintroduced in BF3.

                          Re: Medics

                          Here's the BF:BC ghillie

Now that you have seen how that is like, let's do some counting:

Invisibility when prone + one shot kill + loads of distance + laser designator + football looking short distance UAV = superior kit

Im pretty sure that DICE has looked this ghille + prone matter from all the possible angles...

The BF2 ghillie wasn't even a ghillie... It was an insult..

In BF2142, you could still dolphin dive... And what comes to balance of the weapons.. Can't you remember all the b*tching around the interwebz about "OMG!! Voss is sooo n00b overpowered gun!!!111"

DICE had to improve the stock AR's to counter this. And i think it was in 1.40 patch where this happened...

The LMG's aren't that powerful what you'd think/want(from the beta videos i've seen).. You need a lot of ammo to kill someone... And the Assault Class has the GL to counter the high rate of fire of the LMG's...

This whole no prone thing, it really isn't that big of an deal... Atleast it isn't for me...

Here's few quotes from interview with the producers..
                          http://battlefield2.filefront.com/ne...per_Chat;37987

Will anything be done to balance the the guided missile of the sniper kit?
The Sniper kit always seem to be a source of so much argument...
The laser designator was always a bit powerful when we released for the Beta, which we knew, but we've spent a long time tweaking it now, so it should be much more balanced now
...but yes, we've spent extra focus on balancing the gadgets of the Snip.er
Hehe... how about Prone? No one asking about that? smile
Why no prone? Well, this is simply to balance the sniper class to the other. They are the only one having 1-shot1-kill wpns PLUS the laser designator. If they had prone as well they would be more or less invisible as well. So short asnwer, it's a balance reasons!
Will BFBC have prone in retail version?
I think KM answered this a minute ago - we decided not to have prone from a balancing perspective for the recon class - they can really dominate, and so we wanted to try to keep the action flowing more by making them more detectable
with prone in, they become can become almost invisible, which can really stall the game
                          Will we get a parachute?
Currently there's not parachutes in BFBC to avoid the Attackers having a too good time dropping of agents around the Defenders base.
                          ...again, a balance tweak.
If you think that "oh wait, he basically said that recon can't prone" Here's an answer to that...

                          Snipers
                          # GOOD - lots of cover, more than in battle field 2, even in the desert map there is alot of palm trees tall and short to cover you.
–The useless smoke grenade has been replaced with a little soccer ball looking device that you throw like a grenade and it puts out a radar pulse for a little while to see if any one is close to you.
                          — you have a laser designator that after it locks on to a vehicle, you switch to a rear of the bomb view and have to manualy guide the bomb to the target, Takes some practice, But cool as you can lock on to a tank, then as the bomb is coming down you chan choose to stear somewhere else if you see an enemy on foot or decide to take out a building instead.
                          # BAD - People can spawn off of you, you work hard to be realy sneaky and find a great spot to snipe from or just work the laser in total stealth, you are all set, then some goof ball spawns off of you and opens up with his LMG standing right next to you, putting all enemy eyes on your possition.
                          # NO PRONE!! the developers have decided that in this game players will not be able to go to a prone possition, this is very bad when you are behind cover but your head sticks up when crouched, someone opens up fire on your possition you can not take cover by going prone. Not just snipers, no one can go prone.

Which seems stupid, but balance takes its piece in the process of game creation.
