Anyone else thinking battlefield 1942 is still the best
Anyone else thinking battlefield 1942 is still the best
I been playing the battlefield series for quite some time, it grew up with me lol. And I played every single battlefield, but it seems none of them compete with 1942.
Re: Anyone else thinking battlefield 1942 is still the best
i hope its better than BF2. im gettin in a couple of days along with BF:V. but im still wondering about the patches. do i just download the last patch and install it or do i have to download and install all of the other patches?
Re: Anyone else thinking battlefield 1942 is still the best
^^one by one.
As, for the TC; You gave no points or examples of why you think its still the best.
I think Bf2 is the best
--Squad system(VOIP)
--More realistic graphics
--Setting(time)allows for cooler weapons/vehicles--imo
--Better mods--POE2, PR, FH2, AIX, sandbox
--ranking system(although I would have liked personal not global stats better
--Better player movement
BF42
--Crappy sea battles--unbalanced, and the netcode for the ships/humans was horrible
--The only thing I liked better here was the gun play--not as much deviation but that was in relation to DC mod(which pretty much MADE '42)
Re: Anyone else thinking battlefield 1942 is still the best
I hated BF1942 when it come out. I was weary of BF2 but I really liked it after trying it. I thought I'd give BF1942 another shot and remembered very quickly why I hated it.
Re: Anyone else thinking battlefield 1942 is still the best
I wouldn't have played 1942 for as long as I had, if it wasn't for the Desert Combat Mod. I recently went back and reinstalled both, it's cluncky, slow, and nowhere near as good as BF2.
I understand you could say you enjoyed it more, but better? ...no way.
Re: Anyone else thinking battlefield 1942 is still the best
It's funny... I never would have played Battlefield had it not been for the Interstate mod. I went to the P2P networks, downloaded 1942, and installed ismod. After that got boring I tried vanilla 1942. I would turn the AI up to impossible and run around with an engi kit headshotting and blowing up tanks. Not to mention the awesome wingwalking. Then BF2 came out and I tried it online. It blew me away. I regret that I never played 1942 online.
Re: Anyone else thinking battlefield 1942 is still the best
Liked BF1942 more as it wasn`t trying to be realistic in any way, imo, and was more fun. BF2 ****ed up by looking realistic and advertising it like so but being the complete opposite.
Re: Anyone else thinking battlefield 1942 is still the best
While I like the squad system, it's not really that big an issue as long as most people on the '42 server have VoIP capability through TeamSpeak, Ventrilo, or the old Roger Wilco, etc. The thing I really miss when I go back to BF1942 (actually only mods; I never play vanilla) is the ability to spot so people can see it on the map. One area where I think BF2 is better is in the AI for SP/coop. Even though BF2 SP is obviously neglected by EA/DICE compared to MP the bots are noticably smarter than in 42 (and even better after tweaking by modders).
Re: Anyone else thinking battlefield 1942 is still the best
Does anyone remember what I call "flog-walking" in '42? That's repeatedly diving at the ground to move faster. We used to laugh our аsses off flogging all over the place.
Re: Anyone else thinking battlefield 1942 is still the best
BF1942 is a good game, but it still needs a little bit more modifications to it. EA should add: the buddy sistem like on BF2142; some better graphics; more choices for the server filter; add a SMG or an other weapon to the anti-tank kit, wich has a knife, a pistol, grenades and a anti-tank weapon only; put in the squad and commander system (like in BF2 our 2142); and above all, allow your plane to get repaired when you fly or land on an airstrip, because dont see to have my plane repaired when I land or fly-by runways, not like in BF2. Oh and add some kind of helicopters (i know that has been done but never seen it my self).
That is my point of view, add all this, it will probably make 1942 80% better...
Re: Anyone else thinking battlefield 1942 is still the best
I think the dogfights in BF1942 were a bit more balanced and you could have long fights with a particular pilot in the air which was fun. Coral Sea was an excellent map. BF1942 also had a historical base which added a bit more to the experience. However, I cannot imagine playing without squads and revives now so I cannot say 42 was better. Vietnam was a fun departure as well once they got a lot of the balance issues worked out, we'll never know who was smoking what when they gave one class a ridiculously accurate M60 and LAW combo when the game first came out.
