Empty servers?

I just now downloaded and installed the 1.5 patch for CoD4.. but pretty much 90% of the servers are empty.. have i done something wrong? do i need to download anything else? or are most the servers just empty?..

I think i will have to uninstall and go back to 1.0

hmm, i find enough severs with people in them, just set ur filter to not show empty servers

Its funny, I noticed that same thing the other day. Looking at all 20,000 servers on the list... there were hardly any that had people in them. A bug?

This was at one AM ET on a Friday night.

i dont know.. byt as soon as i can be bothered im going to uninstall and reinstall cod4.. this sucks.. all servers should be made to patch.

What servers are empty? example Internode, GSA etc and what time do you normally play

Yep, and I can't tell you the countless times I've found a local, regular server that happens to be running an old patch

There is currently 121 Australian servers that are populated, so how are they empty?

I put my filter to show me full servers and I get about 12000. Maybe there are thousands empty, but there should be a few for you to play on.

As others have said, there are a lot of empty servers, but that's because there are thousands of servers out there.

But, most people who play this game are on v1.5, so that version should still give you the most available populated servers to play on.

There does seem to be some sort of bug(s) out there though, that are preventing some people from seeing all the servers that they should, unfortunately.

Ok i have taken a screenshot of all the servers right up to 180 ping.. As u can see by the pic there is only one decent server..




Its a bit hard to see.. but pretty much all the servers u see on that picture are empty except one, with the exception of two servers that each only have 3 ppl in them...

Time of the day plays a significant role for when you search. Peak times are usually after school/work on weekdays, so keep that in mind.

The other thing is your location. You're in Oz, so there won't be as many servers near you with a good ping because you're so remote compared to the large centers of activity in Europe and North America.

At any rate, to make life easier for you, go into your Filters and set "View Empty" to "No". That way the only servers you even see will have people in them. You may just have to accept that you'll have to play on higher-ping servers due to your location. But, if you still don't see very many populated servers, even at higher pings, then you may have a problem with your game communicating with the Activision Master Servers.

yeah i understand time of day plays into server population however even at times like 7:30pm i still get pretty close to the same result. Playing on servers with a ping higher than 180 i get pwnd as soon as i come round a corner or in close combat. as for me not having a decent conection to the master server im not sure, On 1.0 version most of the aussie servers were full, though only 5 of them

Maybe you need to start your own server. Are the expensive in Australia?

Or are there just no Australian players? I wouldn't think that would be the case, but I dont live there

I haven't used the server browser since it was messed up in 1.3 (at least for some people).

Try game-monitor.com, it's what I use when finding servers and it displays populated servers (which I find to be in no way lacking.)
