Hmmm. Not sure what's going on here. Playing on a different PC to mine for a while and whereas that comes with X-Fi sound support, this PC is powered by a Realtek ALC883 setup on a MSI K9A Platinum mobo.
I've got the latest BIOS, chipset and audio drivers applied, along with DX9.0c from March 2008. Other games such as turdy COD4 and Oblivion work great - no issues at all.
I've currently got the audio settings within BF2142 itself set to High, with the tick on the Hardware option as the renderer.
But when I start a multiplayer game, it results in total audio chaos. It's like every single noise being made on the entire map comes flooding through the speakers. The spatial sounds are total crap too. I've tried it in single player mode on Berlin, and I can hear when the PAC walker starts to move - despite me spawning at the EU point at the other end of the map?
In the right time and right place, this 'feature' would be invaluable. As it is, I just cannot play the game. There's just too much noise going on.
Any ideas, guys?
Oh, and the 'ol favourite of random non-deaths crept up as well. "Killed by TomXD"? That's funny. It looks like I'm driving a Tiger tank, to me.
