Of course, with the preparations from the upcoming patch, the 2142 EA Master Server has been having intermittent downtime. That may have an effect on how many players are on. Though, the total number of slots for all BF2 servers combined floats around 75,000, while it's just 35,000 for 2142.

Nah. BF2 plays very differently in general and is vehicle heavy, to each their own.

imo BF2 has way more variety and room to gain skill, not only in the vehicle department. If this weren't true, BF2 wouldn't have 3x as many players as BF2142.

i agree that BF2 is just nade spam and vehicle whore, but you cant deny that it was the pioneer of online FPS gaming.

Of course it was the pioneer of online FPS gaming if you forget about 1942, tribes, cs, tf and numerous other games.

Yep i play both but like 2142 the best. What do you think it will be like when bad company comes out? Think the attendance will drop?

I don't really think so, maybe at the start of it all but there are alot of people (myself included) who are more concentrated on PC gaming and won't stay on a console game for too long, let alone give up the PC games for it. Maybe BH:H and BF3 will steal players away though.

my brother who has played both this game and bf2 quite a bit, he installed bf2 a couple days ago, played it a bit, then said "im done with this game, its not as skillful as 2142." and im like "uh, are you sure you want to completely just uninstall it?" and he goes "yeah im positive. bf2 sucks." LOL im not kidding these were the exact words.

i like this game for alot of reasons. part of it being that i just like semi-sci fi stuff in general. i like infantry on foot kind of gaming. im not good at rts but then games like UT its more 'oh get good at dodge jumping and going boom headshot' i find this game is a nice happy medium where you need to be quick and a good shot but then have a little bit of tactical thinking as well. then i like the fancy armor and weapons. ive stuck with this game a good amount of time since close to when it came out
