FPS issue.

Hello there, was hoping someone could help me on this, I purchased 2142, and Northern Strike a month ago, and it hasn't ran well at all - ever since i installed it.

I have done numerous virus scans, defrags, closed unnecessary processes before starting the game, and yet the game still runs very bad with more than 30 players, my character will 'stumble' or 'skip' around (not lag, but choppy framerate) - at times , and it becomes extremely hard to play with 10-15 players around a spawn area.


My system specs are:

- P4 2.80 GHz
- 1.50 GB RAM
- Nvidia GeForce 7600 GS
- and I am running xp.

Shouldn't this be enough to run this game? I have most settings on low, except 2 on medium, everything else is low, or off.

I can run Crysis on low, and get a great framerate and still get the great graphics (although that is likely the game itself?) Elder scrolls: Oblivion - on medium and Call of duty 4 on low - to medium.

If anyone could help me i would really appreciate it, and if you need to know anything else about my computer just let me know, and i'll see what i can do, Thanks.

have you tried reinstalling the game. and maybe delete your cashe it could be an issui that is hiding there

I think your rig is on the low end, but how many fps you getting roughly?

Change the settings on medium to low, and make sure all lighting, shadows, AA are off or low. Also what resolution you playing on? As that will make an effect.

Each time you change your settings, you should delete your cashe.

Anyway, use this website to see if you are being bottlenecked by anything.

hardware wise anyways, your processor and memory are bottlenecking your system. Get another 512MB or 1GB of ram and you will run smoother. Your p4 is not a good processor i dont think cause i have a Pentium D 805 @ 2.66ghz and i will get very poor framerate on large 64 player type servers i will generally get really laggy on a titan too with any good amount of people. Your video card is not that great and what your video card does is simply allow you to play the game on higher graphics with not as big of a hurt on your fps. lower your graphics to all low 800x600 remember to increase your sight distance to 100% though.

1 thing if you put your graphics on all low and you dont get real improved fps then your processor and memory are definitely the proplem.

i would totally just get more ram though because its cheap and easy.

which is really popular and has alot of product. just figure out what ram you have and what socket you have and what kind of processors you can get or if maybe you can overclock i dont know if you have a proprietary computer like a dell/compaq/gateway you might not be able to but check at least

1 thing with the ram i tried to get 4gb but only saw 3.25 because of the computer assigning devices and other junk into the registry and that is a ram blackhole that you just cant have you wont be able to get 4gb i dont think

You dont get the 4gb ram cos it depends on your windows operating system. In 32 bit version only 3.25gb is recognised. You need to have a 64 bit version for the full 4gb to be recognised.
