Where have all the servers gone?

I loaded up BF2 for the first time in about 7 months today, and to my disappointment all I can seem to find are infantry only servers. I had always liked playing on 32 man maps, with vehicles, but have yet to run across one of these servers that has more than 20 people on it.

I cant get into the infantry thing either, battlefield just ain't battlefield without vehicles.

Yea i'm not sure where everyone's at either. Seems like everyone just wants to play Karkand I'm so sick of playing Karkand infantry only. I LOVE Clean Sweep and Kubra Dam, but apparently no one else in the world does.

20% of all servers now are airmaps. Everything else is Karkand, Wake, Sharqi and Jalalabad. Good luck finding populated vehicle servers...

The reason? Simple! When you just can't adapt to the game, drop a sh*tload of variables so that all you have left is the stuff requiring the least amount of skill. Presto, abracadabra, voila... Infantry Only.

huh? There are plenty of vehicle servers in EU :)

I don't have a massive problem finding servers with vehicles, although I do agree that they are in a minority.

IO servers are good if I've only got a half hour to spare and don't want to start a propper game that I know i'm going to find hard to leave.

I do however hate having to hunt through the list for a Karkand vehicle server. Might get a list of 20 Karkand servers (keeping ping below 100) and only 1 or 2 have vehicles, which is a shame as Karkand is a great map with said vehicles.

I personally like all the maps in the game with vehicles, except one, its been so long I cant remember it but the whole map is one big empty field. I think it began with a Z and had wetlands in the name.

Anyway, ya karkand can be quite fun with vehicles, my personal favorite city map is mashutar city, after that my fac map would have to be shougu stalemate.

But IO is just, boring, you spend most of your time just walking around, its so gimped.

I do see a lot more stat padding servers. Some are even clearly labeled as such. It makes me wonder why stat padding is a turn on. Bf2 is going on what now... 3 years old? I mean really... 90% of the medals and ranks are unobtainable by the average player who gets an hour here and there to game. Why bother?

I don't know what you guys are talking about. I play on lots of 64 slot vehicle servers.

Well runing BF2 ranked servers costs money, clans just lost interest in BF2 and moved on to other games, so its really hard now to find a good server.

Was not referring to 64 man, was referring to 32 man as said in OP.

Tell me about it. The last squad I was in dumped all ties to BF2... moving the squad and server to CoD4. Needless to say I'm clanless now.

All Valid points, IO does get boring but if you have an awkward love for the game, and are too stubborn to change, or upgrade so you can play other games, you just get used to it, after play BF2 with my clan, I just can't find comfort in any other FPS. Their are still plenty of good servers out there, If you cant find vehicles try out a 32 map sized IO, not to much walking involved, most of the fight happens in the middle of the map..

I always find myself in [iO] karkand which ironically has vehicles.

yeah, i tried playing after a long vacation and could only find Karkand maps. stinks.
