i understand what your trying to say chris, i want a realistic CQB shooter, like R6 but better, although i like rainbow six vegas, i just feel the story line is quite boring, and the multiplayer could be better, i did have rainbow six lockdown, but i thaught that was a POS:p

is swat 4 that good? i was thinking of buying it a while ago, but i just never had the chance

SWAT4 is actually nice, they're selling the Gold Edition that means with Expansion pack Stechkov Syndicate for only 4 pounds lolz, i enjoy playing the game, online is quite good actually i would slightly compare it to Americas army. Plus AA rox! and its free

Re: Cries! Cries! Tears! Tears! "We need a tactical CQB shooter!"

I really, really liked Vegas storyline, it was very Clancy-esque. I know a lot of people dislike Clancy stories. A story doesnt have to me "original" and "epic" like... say Matrix, in order to be good and enjoyable. Clancy stories are relatively down on earth with a pinch of sci-fi thrown into it, just enough to alter the flavour, a little.

Hence my fascination with Vegas story, aswell as Vegas 2 story, which is basically a continuation. The problem was in Ubisuck´s bad game making.

Anyway, Vegas, if working perfectly and without problems, would be a great online game, and a lot of ex R6 and SWAT4 competitive players actually praised the games main concept, which is tactical CQB shooter with gadgetry and a clever cover system. However, unlike SWAT4, a critically acclaimed (by the tactical community) CQB shooter, Vegas was just way too buggy and way too half-as5ed console port to live a longer life. As such, it deservedly got a derogatory nick called "Gaygas", and I wouldnt need to actually tell you about the game called "Suckdown" or "Letdown".

The problem with games which utilize cool gadgetry and stuff online, is that some of its features are not multiplayer-friendly. But they do make for a great COOP experience. Doorcam for SWAT4 goes through goors and is seen from far away. But in COOP it makes for an excellent teamwork feature.

And yeah, SWAT4 is great, however its old. And even though its various bugs and badly coded features are not actually bad enough to fvck up the experience, its still an old game. So Im waiting for something new, a SWAT4/R6-esque gaming experience where Ive got toys and sh!t to play around with.

Anyone interested in SWAT4 game, you can sometimes find me in "German SWAT4 Elite Funserver" (or something akin to that name). The games cheap, and well worth the low price. You should give COOP a chance. Frostys servers are legendary, and in TSS; you actually play with people using VOIP.

Did and do and will do. Even though Clancy is a fagg0t as5 sellout.

Will even organize a mil-sim event this summer with a Clancy-esque touch, if all goes well.

Have you taken a look at Ground Branch.

                    Ground Branch Synopsis

Ground Branch is the premiere title from Blackfoot Studios. The term Ground Branch is a little known Military and Intelligence reference phrase for the paramilitary wing of the CIA. Ground Branch is composed of a Command that oversees operational teams which conduct military and intelligence actions in support of the goals specified by the National Command Authority.

These teams are not constrained by the law of land warfare that applies to military units. They operate under the radar and outside public knowledge, often conducting operations in conjunction with Special Operations Forces. Their members are drawn from the best former SOF operators from around the world including US Army Special Forces, British SAS, Australian SAS, Navy SEALs, Delta Force, and GSG9 just to name a few.

Ground Branch often operates in an area where there is no official or allowed military presence and utilizes the most advanced weaponry, intelligence and support mechanisms.

The story in Ground Branch opens with the expanding Chinese oil companies backing a guerrilla leader in Sumatra. The goal is the over throw of the West Sumatran government in order to allow China easier access to the massive oil strata discovered to the west of the country in Sumatran waters. Loss of communication with an advance Intel gathering team along with Guerrilla seizure of oil platforms and a bold move toward the capital of West Sumatra result in the CIA deployment of a Ground Branch 6 man team to gather intelligence and assess the situation in preparation for possible US Military intervention.

The Ground Branch Team enters the fray and the player begins a whirlwind experience where the battlefield evolves and the morality of right and wrong become a matter of choice. The gamer will chase a warlord and an elusive truth across a country while employing advanced techniques such as covert underwater scuba operations and high altitude parachuting techniques known as HALO to surprise a vastly superior enemy.

The basis for the Ground Branch game experience is, like everything else in the title, realism. There are legions of FPS fans that are constantly saying, ?I wish there was a game where I could do such and such just like the real world.? With Ground Branch, they will. All the while getting their hands "dirty" and experiencing the visceral consequences of hard decisions made during desperate situations.

Re: Cries! Cries! Tears! Tears! "We need a tactical CQB shooter!"

It looks like a Ghost Recon / Americas Army clone, which is far, far from what I would like to play.

And big "lol" at the credits on their main site. They provided services to create such games as "Rainbow Six: Lockdown" and "GRAW" for Red Storm Entertainment.

                          1. Clancy sold RSE to Ubi before these two titles were made, basically ending the realism aspect of both franchises (consequencely, right after the deal, the next games released were arcadeish titles, far from the original concept)
                          2. The titles arent in the same league as the franchises, being made console friendly arcade poos.

Twlight, what advice do you need?

[EDIT] I havent been entirely fair, looks like the folks are going for the "hardcore realism shooters" market. This peaks my interest. Thanks for the info, gents.

Hey Chris, have you thought of BiA:HH.

                            it comes on PC,PS3,360.

I played the older PC versions its not quite that much of a cqb, but it does the job for me though.

Swat4 is the closest i played for CQB genre (Swat4, Exp pack, and America's Army).
