Lack of PC support is a growing trend in the video game industry.

Doesn't IW know that manufactured distractions are on notice?! We want a better browser functionality! HC/SC Filter!

Does IW only check their official forums?

The amount users pay for their PC's is irrelevant, as IW/Activision doesn't get any money from that.

Console users pay about $10 USD more for COD4 than PC, and Console versions have massively outsold PC versions in terms of number of copies. Both of these factors generate more money for IW/Activision.

Once a game is shipped, some of the manpower at the developer is reduced as people get moved to other projects. They can't do everything at full capacity anymore, so things have to be prioritized. From a purely business perspective, it makes complete sense to make Consoles the priority, then PC, because Consoles make more money and have a bigger fanbase.

PC got at least 3 patches before Consoles even got their first one. PC's also have more varied options (game-types/matchups, custom maps, etc) than Consoles, so we have a more robust gaming experience. They got the game to a very functional (not perfect, but very good) state on PC quite quickly, and after that, concentrated on adding things for Console users. It's not the one-sided favouritism some may think.

With Console stuff mostly out of the way now, the focus will shift back to PC. We just have to be patient. People already bored of the game who are expecting a miracle will always be disappointed - new maps and even a better browser will only satisfy them temporarily. Many of them should move on and stop complaining.

I didnt mean they get money from hardware, but rather we pay to have the game look good. My friends with crappy computers wont even buy fps's for the fact that fps's are the most demanding, and they are the ones that spend the most upgrading their computers. That, and the sheer popularity of this game and the poor support since. The complaints have been almost unamimous with simple problems that have yet to be addressed. I was so excited by this game and within 2 weeks I stopped playing it.

BAH, youre contradicting yourself. People wont buy FPS games that require hardware because THEIR CHEAP! Thats it. They dont have the money for whatever reason.

The hardware purchases can NOT be a factor in IWs decisions. In fact, they made the game, IMHO, able to play a wide range of aged computers.

I do agree that there are some unanimous complaints, but other than the broswer filters, IW has stated at some point or another, that they are looking into it.

As Whiskey said many times, it takes time.

The comment in bold above doesn't make sense to me...how can your friends have "crappy computers" but also spend the most upgrading? But again, hardware costs are still irrelevant - COD4 runs well on both mid-range and high-end PC's - neither can be unhappy with the performance of the game.

But once again, there are bugs in all versions of the game, PC and Console, and IW's staff is not at maximum anymore. They have to prioritize, and it makes sense that Consoles come first.

As for your support comment - I would say that up to patch v1.5, support was pretty good, with patches coming about every 3-4 weeks and correcting major problems that were found, and getting the mod tools out. Since 1.5, however, I agree that the next patch has been slow in coming.

No, it is unacceptable to have a very simple thing like that fixed given the amount of revenue they have made off this game. Developers of games with 1/10 this base have come out to fix things faster. Then again I look at my Zune which has been out long enough and has terrible basic flaws. Oh well, nothing you can do against bad management.
