ive played only FPS my whole life. i was wondering what are some games you recommend to ease into the strategy genre. i dont care if its turn based or real time, just something thats fun and can run good on less than ideal hardware. i would prefer not having to scrutinize money or happiness, i can deal with it but the simpler the better

Re: Good introduction to any strategy genre?
Supreme Commander and Company of Heroes are my favorite RTS's of all time. Supreme commander if you want large scale battles(like 1000 units per side, its epic) Only prob is if you only have a single core, your screwed. CoH if you want a more close up gritty WWII game style. Very fun especially as germans. I personally dont like Evants choices, but thats just me. If i were you i would get demos of both our games and see what you like.

I understand, not everyone likes the same things, I would say a lot of people like Company of Heroes, you should check that out too. The games I posted are very easy to learn and play, more for the casual RTS player like me, I am mostly about FPS games.
I'm waiting for Starcraft 2 and Red Alert 3 to come out, I loved the original Starcraft it was the RTS I liked most.

Re: Good introduction to any strategy genre?
i like Civ IV but i wouldnt consider it a RTS, i consider it a turn based stratagy, also games can take weeks to complete, maybe even months
but i suggest any total war game if you want large scale battles, company of heroes if you want close up, and finally the best game of them all Age Of Empire(the original) i still have it, but it wont run:cry: it can be really helpful for people who are new to the genre
