Do softcore servers exist anymore?

They seem to be going extinct. Just like how BF2 became an Infantry-only-Karkand-only game.

Discuss. Does anyone share the same frustration as me?

We need that Hardcore/Softcore filter, before it's too late!

I do. Right now I'm stuck with two west coast servers where I get a 130+ ping. :shakehead:

I really don't see what people find so fun about hardcore. There are so many holes in the common reasons for it too: it being more realistic, harder to play, etc.

I find lots of softcore servers to play on, plus I also find lots of non-karkand servers in BF2.

I tend to stick with 50 slot cod4 servers, so I don't know exactly what it's like for smaller servers. I also play with 100 - 150 ping and never have lag or connection problems

The only thing I don't like is the lack of 50 slot softcore 24/7 custom maps servers. I think there's like 2 custom map servers that are usually full with 50 people. One is the zombie mod, and the other is hardcore (which I don't mind, but I'd like a softcore one too)

Even here in Europe the softcore servers are starting to disappear. I rarely play CoD4 anymore but when I do, I love playing S&D (preferably on Crash)...

But with every damn server running hardcore it's just not fun anymore

Hardcore limits people too much and 3 nades on such small maps just doesn't work without a nade indicator imo.

People want to play HC cause they can't aim like us. Duh!

I mean how is something not broken when everything is 1 shot kill? It just throws the whole game balance out the window.

There's tons of softcore servers around here. I find that there's only a small selection of HC servers to choose from, not SC. All the SC servers here are usually filled up though.

Hardcore is the way to go. "Softcore" has a cluttered HUD. It requires no skill since you can fire with accuracy thanks to magical crosshairs floating in the air. Contrary to common misconception, hardcore isn't one-shot one-kill.

Hardcore should be the standard and "softcore" should require a special cvar to activate it.

My first round ever in HC mode, Pipeline. I went through the other team so bad that I stopped after I realized that I could go 100:3 KDR. I never picked up the iron sights. Crosshairs are a reference, skilled players look past the crosshairs. You take them away from me in SC, and I wouldnt even note the difference. As for skill, A guy with 100 hours in SC will sweep the floors with a guy with 100 in HC, in SC round. (dont even start with the vice versa example, you said SC takes no skill)

Actually, it is. Its not a one shot kill when you use a supressor on an SMG or AK and shoot at long range, at which point it becomes a 2 shot kill issue.

HC is an option to SC because SC is the way COD has been played. Looks like someone has a lot to learn.

There are facts and observations to prove why SC requires more technical, strategical, tactical and hand-eye-coordinational skill, compared to HC. And while HC might be more enjoyable to some people, it most certainly is not "apples and oranges", they are different, can be compared, but different.

hard core > soft core

im fed up of seeing a guy first and having to use half a mag to do any damage, plus they jump around all the place, nade spam like its the only weapon they have, martyrdom everywhere, you can keep soft core

hard core is slower paced, more tactical, you can ACTUALLY USE all of the guns since they all work like they should in hard core, silencers are actually usable, you no longer need bandolier and stopping power as standard.

Plus hardcore is NOT 1 hit kill, take the g3, arguably the most powerful bar snipers, you need stopping power on it un-silenced for a 1 hit kill in HC.

mp5 un-silenced needs about 3, the one hit kill is a myth, you just get hit by more then 1 bullet normally giving the illusion of a one hit kill.

If you can't kill anyone in SC then you can't aim properly or you're trying to go full auto with a silenced M14 from across the map. Won't work.

Oh and please, as if noone uses nades or martyrdom in HC It's almost worse because you don't have a danger indicator.

I actually don't mind HC too much occasionally, but it completely takes away the game balance and it doesn't work for all types of players.

If you're a sneaky AR lover then go ahead and play HC. I won't.

Yeah the only softcore server I could find was something in eastern america and I got 130 ping. It's ok but not when every shot counts because you've gota hit the guy 30 times. Hardcore is ok, but I don't like how you can kill somebody with barely any shots. They should make hardcore so that there's more itboxes. Like a perfect heart shot is a 1 shot 1 kill. But a shot to the left, right, or lower chest takes 2-3 shots. And the head is ALWAYS one. ect...

Oh that's right, besides the magical floating crosshairs, I forgot about the nade indicators and death icons. Wow. That stuff is just plain silly. I'm glad I only play HC.
