Bombing raid causing jerky play

First let me start of with my system specs: 2.5 Intel Core Quad, 4GB Ram, with BFG 8800gt vid card. Now, here is the issue. During game play everything runs fine at 1280 res but when a bombing raid happens, I start to see jerky play or freezing of the game, once raid is over everything returns to normal. Now this started happening after I got a 16x9 monitor. I have reinstalled COD with patches in order. I have updated my Nvidia drivers and have even tried different releases and still same results. So I would like to hear anyones comments or suggestions, becuase I am out of ideals.

you have a 9800gt? those arent out... mabye 8800gt?
first try lowering the settings on the game. i have an 8800gt and when a smoke grenade goes off i go down to like 50 fps which looks slow.
if that doesnt work, i dont know.

it has nothing to do with your video card or anything like that , it is either your firewall or a antivirus option you have turned on when your playin, same thing happened to me and i have no idea what the hell i turned off in my antivirus but it works fine now.......

Antivirus is what causes this. Its the #1 thing that does it.

Then try Sgt. Collins suggestion of lowering settings.

Happens to me as well. The only thing running during my gameplay is Teamspeak. The game plays flawless until a airstrike.
