  • Lotek19's Fix for "Unmodified Content Error"

This is Lotek19 here, and i may have the solution for your problems when you receive a dreaded message of something containing "unmodified content error"

Note: This fix is for you people who have done nothing, but played.

So this is what you do, go uninstall from control panel the Battlefield 2142 game.

    Or

You can uninstall this way below, then insert the disk after the last restart PC, then go to more options in that little box that appears when you insert the disk, and uninstall or it might say reinstall or even install and do it, and should reinstall.

    Delete the Battlefield 2142 folder
To delete the game files (in the default location):

Click the Start button on the Windows Taskbar.
    Select My Computer.
    go to the C:drive.
go to the Program Files folder.
    Go to EA GAMES folder.
Right-click the Battlefield 2142 folder and select Delete.
Go to the following folder: C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information (I have vista, so what i do is go to start, and in the search click folder tools -> view ->show hidden folders )

    Select Run.
Type regedit in the text field and click OK.
    Click File and select Export.
Name the file Backup and make sure the Export Range is set to All.
Click Save; you will now be returned to the Registry Editor window.
Click the dash - sign next to hkey_LOCAL_MACHINE.
Click the dash - sign next to Software.
Click the plus - sign next to EA GAMES (or Electronic Arts).
right click the Battlefield 2142 folder and select Delete.
Back under Software, click the plus (+) sign next to Electronic Arts.
Click the plus - sign next to EA GAMES.
right-click the Battlefield 2142 folder and select Delete.
Just above EA GAMES, you will see a folder named EA CORE. Click the plus - sign next to EA CORE.
Click the plus - sign next to INSTALLED GAMES.
Click the plus - sign next to EA GAMES.
Right-click and select Delete on any Battlefield 2142 folders.
Click the dash - sign next to Microsoft.
Click the dash- sign next to Windows.
Click the dash - sign next to CurrentVersion.
Click the dash -sign next to Uninstall.

A Confirm Key Delete window will appear, choose Yes.
    Close the WindowsRegistry Editor.

    Restart PC

    Now go reinstall Battlefield 2142.

First find a good copy of a 1.40 Patch, a trust able one.

Download it and immediately install it to the game.

    Restart PC

Note: I actually am using Vista so there is a slight difference with you users who have xp

    Play

Maybe if you could, possible sticky, to help out guys, cuz this is a somewhat big problem

Edit Note #1 - This is actually a temporary fix.

easier thing is just to uninstall 2142 reinstall it patch it instantly to 1.40 (gamershell preferred) and try again.

Re: Lotek19's Fix for "Unmodified Content Error"

Actually i have tried to do that many times (4) and it still stays around, because the unmodified content comes from the registry keys, so you will most likely have to do a FULL uninstall.

Another issue, is most people will think that once they uninstall from uninstall menu or control panel -> Programs -> Uninstall. Then they think they are done, but theres still some stuff left over.

There is a third option, but i would not even deal with it, you could do a System factory restore...but come on...no one (that i would think of) would go to that extreme.

Well, i would like to say never mind.....that fix was temporary for 20 minutes, some friends had it and it worked for 20 mins....now it starts all over again

I'm sure where you got it from then got it from EA.

              EA created that originally
