game froze during a match, now cant join another game?

was just playing and the game froze.
had to alt ctrl del to task manager and saw that
the game wasnt responding so i ended the process.
has never froze before, havent changed anything in my setup recently either.

now, upon entering a game it just loads about 3/4
and sits there. seems like i cant join a game.

anyone had this happen before?
maybe the servers think im still online or something?
arg, i was primed for some killing !

Delete the "Cache" folder located in My Documents/Battlefield 2142/mods/bf2142/

i just did that , and now it wont go past 3/4 optimizing shaders.
what the heck.

might just try a reinstall this is nuts

To fix the shader problem, delete your Radial.cdb. Its common for both (cache and radial) to get corrupted at the same time.

tried to search the drive that the game is on, no files under that name are present.

upon reinstalling the game , apparently a bunch of files were lingering in the folder.
when i tried to reinstall it gave me a ton of errors untill i got those files removed.
started with the open al stuff, and when i hit retry it wouldnt progress.

so i downloaded the patch again and reinstalled after getting rid of those.
seems like it was some type of audio crash.

worth noting , i'm not using any sound blaster etc type game friendly card.
i have a large focus on audio/music creation and use a card
with dual analog 1/8 inch input/outputs. an echo mia.
sounds amazing and great for recording instruments.
havent had problems using it with 2142 before, but seems like that must have been it.

You can't access your Radial with a search... You have to go to Tools -> Folder Options -> View:
-Show Hidden Files and Folders (yes)
-Hide Protected Operating System Files (no)

Then it (the radial file) should be located in C:/Program Files/Electronic Arts/Battlefield 2142/radial.cdb

A complete reinstall will fix it, but its overkill. Deleting it the first time is difficult (hard to find all the options I listed above), but after you have done it once you shouldn't have a problem doing it again.

I just had to delete the radial yesterday. Heck, someone should write a batch file for to be automatically deleted with every game start. It crashed me a couple of times in-game, the first 5 minutes of it.

I think they are addressing the radial problem in the new patch....
