Well, carbine can be good at close combat, you just have to know how to use it, never tried to use it with the stabilizer, but APM + RDX ftw! and sometimes Active camo

APMs aren't that great really, unless it's titan maybe. RDX is okay, kinda gay if you're one of those people that spam/camp it. Jihads if the walker is being lame are a good cause. A cloak is also helpful in so many ways though, even I have trouble nailing cloakers at times, and sometimes a good one can get right next to me and *attempt* to knife or spray me with his lambert. Sometimes with a cloak people won't notice you, and you can easily kill them or sneak around. Some people have good eyes though, gotta be sneaky you can't just run in the open. Try to hide in areas with shadows too, some people like having uber graphics.

APMs can be good to defend a titan or a flag, and the rdx can be used for backup just in case a walker comes, and sometimes good for defending a titan, but its just lame if you always use it.

that does not work...ok sometimes but not always, you can hear the sound miles away, it's easier to just hide without the active camo, but sometimes it works

Yep. People spend all that money on a super computer and set everything to high. Guess what, you just gave your enemy an advantage. Drop your lighting and shadows to low, and presto, no shadows. That guy who thinks he's hiding, now appears as clear as day to you. "Your $1500 computer just got whooped by my $500 computer." :p

That's the problem with every game. People who play with high graphics can't see somebody in the shadows or cloaked. So people with ugly graphics can play "Better" and see anything anywhere. It's just so sad.:super pissed:

Well think of it this way... If someone who has a piece of crap computer that is barely running the game and has to run on all low, audio quality on low as well v. a guy that has a nvidia 8800 Card, and a quad core goes up against him. Now the guy with the junk computer likely lags a ton, the guy with the quad core has no lag at all, and all his settings on high. Who has the advantage then? The guy who has trouble seeing in the shadows? Or the guy lagging because his computer sucks, but he is actually a good player.

Those guys aren't the problem. It's the people with quad core 8800GTs that run all on low so they can be l33t.

<shrugs> Let them have the advantage. It's a game, and I play to enjoy myself (which entails that I have medium-high graphics). Besides, gives you a bit of challenge being at a disadvantage and still coming out on top. =]

Naaaaaw, it's far from a deadly assault kit. And heeeeeere's why.

Even with the stabilizer, the lambert bullet power over distance makes it easily bettered by any of the assault rifles. You've got no means of removing long distance targets effectively whilst the assault class has rockets. The carbine closer up is a lot more deadly, due to the low recoil, but why would you want a stabilizer at that range? Also, assaults could have a herzog to come out nicely in close quarters. Assaults get defib and medi-hub, wonderful teamwork tools to help keep you and your buddies rolling, carbine kit is almost teamwork less - if you get shot a little you have to rely on somebody else.

Also, any additional gain the stabilizer can give you in terms of accuracy can easily be brought on manually given some practice. Also, by taking that extra kit slot away you're removing APM's or RDX which generally tend to garner a few easy kills that you MIGHT be making up with the carbine and stabilizer.

If you want to assault things, then well... the assault class is the way to go generally :P If I wanted to use the lambert then I'd be playing more of a stealthy/ninja role with some apms/rdx/ghost combo, but I wouldn't be making an attempt to assault a front line with it.

Untrue I have learned to see just fine even with the shadows up all the way.

HOWEVER, when I am playing in clan matches, most of my settings drop down to medium or low for better visibility (and 150+ FPS :p).

                      8800GTS FTW

Agreed. At the end of the day, it's still just a game, I like the way it looks with all the visual goodies cranked up. I'm fortunate enough to have a number of rigs that'll run it balls-out and a couple more that'll run it on medium-high settings. Maybe I'd do better personally if I played with plane-jane graphics settings, but I just don't want to. I'm comfortable with my in-game performance as is, and I get to see the game look it's best. That's all win in my book.

Yep same, I always drop to low with some high for seeing stuff for matches/scrims. You want the best performance when you play competition, not visual goodies. For pubs :pepsi: doesn't matter either way :pepsi:

I tested it today and found it interesting. It kind of takes advantage in mid-long range, while in short range, it still sucks. It's funny to see Lambert locks on somebody in mid-long range and takes them out even before they know what hit them.

I have no doubt. I'm not denying you can't get used to the shadows and be able to see people in them. It's just that I don't have the patience or skill level to 'learn' how to see in them. I'd rather just turn them off and be done with it. It's not the shadows right in front of me that give me trouble, it's the ones on my periphery. I always found myself either passing right by a waiting enemy, or second guessing myself if I really saw anything there. With them off, if there's an enemy there, I see him straight away. I might not get to see 2142 in all it's visual glory, but I'm not really looking at the texture of the dirt, or color of the sky, or detail in the buildings. What I'm looking at is who's in front of my dot on the Baur or Zellar. Or who's inside my Ganz circle.
