Alright guys, thanks for confirming.

Maybe they shut it down on purpose because of all the flaming and complaining on the forums, especially by PC players who feel abandoned by IW.

nah, they wouldn't do that. Just take a look at the kaos studios (FFoW) forums. You'll see how the complaining to IW is nothing compared to the complaining to kaos lol

Only possible reason for their forums being down are:

a. Someone changed the mysql information in the config file to the incorrect information
b. The dbuser account has exceeded the maximum amount of allowed connections set for the db account.
c. They were hacked
d. The data was lost
e. The data was corrupted
f. They turned the database server off
g. They are doing backups and something went horribly wrong.
h. They are doing upgrades and something went horribly wrong.

Vbulletin/SMF works great and generally doesn't have any problems.

Yeah, the forums are back up now after being down for roughly five days. They had some sort of crash and had to revert to a backup database from March 30th which means that all posts after that before the crash were lost.
