Re: help me with TF2 im a total noob at it

I've only put in around 50 hours so far... so my thoughts should be taken with a grain of salt.

This game is rather akin to Planetside, Sony's MMOFPS game. The only main difference is that the stages are about as small as Call of Duty 4's stages, so you're almost always forced into confrontation. You had better be prepared to work as a team - because there are very very few entry points.

Scouts are by far the best class for the twitch-gamers. Although the shotgun isn't the most reliable gun, with the Scout's speed you can easily kite around every other class, while wittling them down with your guns.

Soldiers have to rely entirely on splash damage, because the rocket takes a long time to arrive at it's target. Shoot down at their feet, instead of trying to get them in the body - you'll only hit Heavy's regularly if you try that.

Pyros aren't as easy as most people would have you believe. You have to get in very close to do any real damage - and you don't instantaneously kill your targets like a Soldier or a Demoman would. This means that despite getting a couple kills, you'll probably end up dying getting those kills... Which is a pain. Pyros are a support-class, despite the fact they're listed as Offense. As a Pyro you should NEVER be alone. Wait for the soldiers or heavies to rush in first, so you can mop up the enemy leftovers with your burnination. You'll die a lot less that way, and get more kills as a result.

Demomen have no traditional weapons - their guns lob, so you better be ready to compensate by aiming down if your enemy is nearby. They're also one of the worst aspects of this game, and are the traditional cause of 99% of the stalemates I've ever been stuck in. I can not satisfy the need to remind people of how much I hate Demomen... I hate, I hate, I hate, I hate, I hate this class. Worst part about it was that playing as one was pretty boring... I just sat around a corner, and dropped sticky bombs. When somebody was dumb enough to walk into them. I got 2 points. Yay. Unless of course they uber, in which case I die. Boo. Destroying engineer equipment was a cinch too... especially with those ricocheting boom-boom sticks, and the sticky bombs.

Heavy's have a chain gun much like the Mech-suits in Planetside. The bullets never go where you aim them, so be ready to spray and pray. I like this class when I'm playing with a friend. A good medic/heavy team is unstoppable and is usually the only way to really break a stalemate.

Engineers are a lot of fun to be at first, but you find yourself groaning when you realize your team doesn't have one, and you're the one who is going to be forced to play as one, just so your stupid team has at least one person protecting the objective. The bulk of the fun as an Engineer is smashing your Sentry and Dispenser so the stupid spy who is sapping it doesn't sap it. At least until one of those annoying Demomen come along and destroy you and the Sentry at the same time with only two stickybombs.

Medics are a pain. Both playing against, and playing as. Expect to die a lot as the medic. It's unrewarding, and everybody bitches about you not helping them. In other-words, you're everybody's ***** if you're dumb enough to choose this class. - Sadly you can't get anything done without a Medic, which is a pain because this causes an endless supply of stalemates as nobody wants to play a medic for long (They give up after ten deaths). Medics clearly need more health to compensate for the fact that they are always being targeted. That uber doesn't come fast enough, nor does it last long enough to justify having a 0:40 K/D ratio at the end of a 30 minute round. TF2 made the same mistake every other MMORPG in existence makes...

Sniper is by far the easiest class to excel in. Every single newbie is good with the sniper... ever, single, newbie... You just zoom in, shoot them in the head, and enjoy your 2 points. Simple. My personal record is 69 headshots in a 30 minute match, 17 in a row without dying.

Spies are an endless source of fun. If you ever find yourself frustrated, roll a spy, wander around aimlessly and stab any stragglers in the back at every opportunity. I think being a spy is the best part about this game personally. Just like every other MMORPG I've ever played... of course, it takes away from that whole "Team-effort" aspect, since you're going to be wasting a lot of your time searching for easy pickings. Going for the important stuff will usually end up with you getting burned by a pyro.

Soldier's a difficult class to play effectively. You have to perfect rocket jumping + shooting + reloading all while in the air.

If your team is going to lose and you have noone to heal as a medic, uber yourself and go on a bonesaw rampage!

Some classes just don't work with some maps... The first stage of Dustbowl is fun if you're a scout but the other stages are just too small and you'll die as soon as you pop around the corner...

Gravelpit is like a Scout's playground instead, I got a 25 kill streak on my friends account. Their team sucked but that's not the point :p

TF2 is one of those games where you need lots and lots of teamwork to suceed, if noone is working together you will lose, that's a fact. Also you'll need to have fast reflexes and be a little creative... It's not always about accurate aiming in this game. I have seen people that couldn't aim for **** completely own me...

If you see your teammate with my name, but isn't a spy,you should start shooting at him.
