Perhaps you dont know where "we" are coming from
I am well aware of where you are coming from. I fly jets and it annoys me with a considerable degree when a newbie jumps in flies off and then respawns thirty seconds later without having had a single kill only for them to run and try and grab the jet again. That however is only one aspect of the game, now for some that's THEIR aspect of the game and for whatever reason will see this behaviour as an excuse to run in to abuse.

but if through the duration of the 330 tickets we are being pounded and raped only because a newbie is wasting a team asset, perhaps you could close one eye and see the forest behind the trees. One mans inability to perform up to par is costing 31 players their fun.
I've not played as long as you have but in the time I have played I have never seen a situation were the behaviour of one newbie has impacted a team to the degree you're describing. Of course I am assuming you mean that you have 32 players stuck in one location getting their butts kicked. If on the other hand you're talking about 31 players who may lose the round because of the actions of a player then doesn't that create two questions.

1). Do all the players ascribe to the idea that winning automatically equals fun. I know I 've played games and lost and still had loads of fun.

2). Can the actions of a single player really affect the overall out come of a round to such a degree? Possibly I suppose but would anyone apart from one or two players actually notice?

And you actually know what credibility is? Your absolutely baseless tantrum here can only be described as male PMS. Get a grip on yourself.

Number 2: If you would take the time to read and actually "understand" what you are reading, then you will see that the only thing the OP was requesting from more experienced players was a little more tolerance. IN GENERAL!!!!
Theres a major flaw in OPs post, which Im actually trying to explain, in a very simple context using simple examples, which probably are still too hard for you to understand. But its OK. PMS can do that to even the best of us. He is trying to say that the "1337" automatically differentiate themselves from the newbies and as such, show negative behaviour and abuse towards them because they are newbies. Im saying that thats not the case, its the actions or lack of efficiency in the actions of the newbies that make the "1337" players suffer, that is the cause of grief. In a nutshell, newbies suck, good players suffer, good players get pissy. Most dont mind, and in vast majority of cases the actions of newbies are not significant enough to cause any effect on other players (newbies playing infantry), but once they take a critical team asset, things change. See numerical example below.

I hope this isnt too heavy of a concept for you, because Id hate to repeat myself in even simplier terms. Idiot.

Hmm. To be more clear, the fact that a newbie took the jet and crashed it does not bother me directly. Its the fact that the newbie took the jet, crashed or got shot down and gave a window of opportunity for the enemy to either push our team into uncap, or allow enemy jets and choppers to start the baserape cycle. Thats what might piss me off. Because that means that the actions of one guy in the duration of the first minute of the game, directly affects the outcome of the entire round. So yes, the grief often has very valid reasons and all can actually be remedied if the newbie took his sweet time offline. Sometimes I think Im the only one who has invested more than 100 hours into offline play.

I've not played as long as you have but in the time I have played I have never seen a situation were the behaviour of one newbie has impacted a team to the degree you're describing.
Frankly I find this to be unbelievable. Because even though Im not a grade AAA pilot, I can be that decisive, only factor that pushes our team from a 100 ticket loss into a 100 ticket victory. And that is a huge change. Furthermore, while, when I used to play often, I averaged at least in taking 20% of all enemy tickets, on the better days every 4th kill that was made, was mine. And I know of a few pilots that could push this figure even into the 30´s, and that is one hell of an achievement. Its not uncommon when I find myself playing 10 rounds in a row, changing each round to the team that lost the last round and winning this round. Im not touting my horn, there are more efficient pilots out there, including chopper pilots. On Karkand for example, the pilots, these key players are exchanged with armor players. And of course, Ive seen a few (alas... few) infantry payers who could do the same.

So basically, if your team is getting their asses kicked so hard, that they cant use any piece of armor (see Sloi), and youre operating at a constant disadvantage, because you dont have air cover, whos to blame? Perhaps youre someone like me, who knows how jets operate and rarely dies from a jet. But take someone who is flaghopping, using the most heated flags as targets, they will get affected by it. In turn, the best players will be forced to sit down if a chopper arrives.

New record time, I played BF2 Demo a little again about a month ago, Mi-28 pushed USMC forces off the main land in less than 2 minutes. Thats 120 seconds. Full 64 player Oman server.

1). Do all the players ascribe to the idea that winning automatically equals fun. I know I 've played games and lost and still had loads of fun.
Winning is definitely fun but its not the only basis of fun in the game. Ive had a couple of "last stand" type of games myself. But take it this way- say you want to flaghop, but every time you set your course in a vehicle, youre killed, and every time you set the course on foot, the chopper once again picks you up. So in essence, youre left with stealthing in huge circles, taking even 5 minutes to reach a flag, basically getting 4 flags a round, finishing with 3 kills. Fun enough? For a flag hopper like me, its awful. And all this because of your air "farce"´s inability to supress enemy air. At first you wont necessarily feel it, but if you can take an APC and reach a back flag, cap it and notice that the flag will actually stay your teams, thats when something is being done... "right".

2). Can the actions of a single player really affect the overall out come of a round to such a degree? Possibly I suppose but would anyone apart from one or two players actually notice?
                Heres who does notice it-

                -Dedicated armor players
                -Dedicated flag hoppers in squads
-Dedicated parties of the whole air
                -Dedicated all around teamplayers

Solo-lonewolf flag hoppers nor new players wont see it. Its like this, if theres nothing in the air, youll never notice it, once bombs start falling and death toll rising, thats when you notice it. Silence is positive.

In the air, when I used to play, I was a teamplayer, if you check PlaneWhores Oman video, thats how I played, bar baseraping of course. Say we won the game by 100 tickets and I want to go to the ground now, more often than not, if we dont have anyone stepping up to the position, and they have good air cavalry, the round will either going to be a close one, or we will get our asses handed to us.

Disclaimer- dont take this as boasting.

Never seen a turn around of that magnitude from the actions of just one player. The only time I've seen a turn around like that was when I was playing on Dragon as US. The butts were getting kicked and we were down by 125 tickets but in some sort of stroke of tactical genius a group of guys captured the enemy airbase this turned the game in to a victory for us because in that instant we had disabled two of their jets and one of their choppers.

Now I suppose it possible to say that had a leet been in the second chopper they could have maybe held the ground and let them win, or it's possible to say they weren't able to hold the ticket difference because they had a noob flying the chopper. I dunno since I dunno who was flying the only remaining chopper.

Rare case in 330 ticket ranked servers. Case nonetheless. The most optimum ticket count in BF2 is around 550-600 tickets a team. I mostly played unranked server myself, at around that ticket count. Fluctuations across 200-300 tickets in lead were not that rare. The worst Ive seen was a 800 ticket server. The rape was so bad that the teams finished at 725-0. Opposition only got 75 tickets...

Last night I was playing in Dalian R|A and we were down 125-280 on USMC, I hadn't been in the chopper yet.

I got in the chopper and convinced my gunner to get out.

                      We won 35-0.

                      Coincidence? Doubtful.

You just haven't been in a server with me or somebody like me. I went 38-0 from when I got in the heli to the end of the round.

Winning most certainly does not automatically equal fun. However, I'll give you an example of a scenario in which I encounter nearly everyday which shows that, on average, getting whooped = no fun:

I always play dalian plant and like every dedicated dalian player knows, it is difficult to get out of your base on either china or usmc if the enemy has capped all the flags. If the lopsidedness persists for a prolonged period of time, you will see that players start to leave the server. Why? Because it just isn't fun when you hop in a vehicle, drive for 10 seconds and get bombed by a jet over and over again. As a matter of fact, dalian isn't even a good example of this. Take dragon valley or kubra dam. Wait till MEC (on kubra), or china (on dragon) are down to their last flag or two. Then start checking the number of players on the server every minute. You will see that players start to leave cause they keep getting pounded on over and over again.

And yes, 1 player's actions, especially at the start of the round where it is critical to quickly cap a couple flags can affect the outcome and quality of the round enormously.(given that he hinders the jets or choppers)

2). Can the actions of a single player really affect the overall out come of a round to such a degree? Possibly I suppose but would anyone apart from one or two players actually notice?
If that player is an elite chopper or jet player, and unhindered, then indeed he can. He can turn the entire tide of the battle in his team's favour. Why don't people understand that when a chopper eliminates all of the enemy's armor/enemy choppers within 60 seconds, and even cleans up a few infantrymen at the same time, that it makes it easy for even a total newb to stand beside a flag and cap it?

Countless times I've jumped into a dalian server where my team has no flags, redlined the guy getting in the chopper , then proceeded to systematically eliminate enemy choppers and armor, and even take the attention of the jets away from our flag hoppers. This results in victory for the team. Plain and simple.

Yes, a single player can turn the round. Specially when he finally takes the job as comander or finally goes to cap some flags. I play IO most of the time so I can't talk that much about vehicle servers, but I've joined so many rounds where my team was loosing and I was like the only one that cared about getting flags. After a while my team got the idea and joined, so we finally turned the game around.
Sometimes it just takes one player to change the whole team from "nadespamming" to actually "playing the game".

Newbies annoy me sometimes when I don't get healed/revived/resupplied, but looking at their rank I can tell they don't know better.
BUT if I don't get healed/revived/resupplied by a high ranked player, this is when he turns into a noob. How many times I've been following a highranked shouting for ammo, shooting my last pistol clip in front of him, until I finally tk'd him to get my supplies.

In general I think that BF2 is still a public game, if you play on pubs it's likely to meet newbies that may not know the game as good as you. You can't expect all the knowledge and skill from all players. The players all have a different skill level and you should just live with that. If you can't stand being on a server with newbies than get your own server up and lock it so only highskilled players can join. You can't force the players to practice in SP until they get as good as you. SP is so different from MP, sure you can learn the controls of a vehicle in SP. I can keep myself in the air on SP but get shot down on MP after 1 min. Another reason for me to switch to IO ;-)

The highranked players should be a good example for the newbies and if they can't teach them, at least encourage them to keep on playing, not just insulting them or even tk'ing. Newbies as well as leet players are part of any MP-game and as long as they try to play good, everything is fine.

And, vehicle whores, I hope you have enough tissues next to your keyboard to dry your tears in case you don't get the desired asset. It's a game ffs ;-)
