:shakehead: i have tapped it, head butted it,jumped on it,pressed it and held it down,got my dog to bite it,phoned 911, phonedEA, phoned a friend, asked the local paper and TV network to do a documentary on it and still no-go
This is now war on default settings
To state the obvious ? am I in the right forum

try setting it to a different key. when you are on the ground is your jumping working?

You must have seriously screwed up your config files because opening your chute is the easiest thing to do in the game.

Try deleting your control configs and/or reinstalling the game.

I know your pain. I don't think I could open my chute at all for the first 6 or seven ranks of this game. XD just make sure you jump as far away from the jump point as possible, that was my problem.

Yeah, don't just drop from the edge. But go away from it a few meters and then run towards it, jumping at the right time and then it should really not be a problem to open your chute. You can try this on an empty server, so that you don't kill your stats.

I think what he means is an empty Titan server. Or you can create your own LAN server in game. That way you can use the Titan to jump off of since you have so much time to figure out how to open the chute. Don't super-fast spam the spacebar. Just tap it continuously. If it doesn't open in the amount of time it takes to jump off a Titan, there's definitely something wrong at your end.
Like it was said above, you might want to try a reinstall.

Don't look down because if you look down while pressing the key, it won't deploy.

Look straight out or up to get it to deploy.
