You change the view distance in the game settings... set it to 100% to see as far as the game lets you.

When I snipe, I look for the muzzle flash from guns that are out of my sight range. I get alot of kills this way.

That only works on Karkand and you cant really say that your "sniping" coz your like 150 meters away from ppl

Well maybe for you, I use this on Sharki and occasionally Jalalabad as well.

Well, what settings are you running at? Geometry is another important factor and even dynamic lighting to see where the shot is coming from. I run the game maxed so maybe that's why I don't have a problem. A higher resolution is also a facto in seeing farther.

If your system will allow, definately run it on high everything, and at as high a resolution as your monitor allows. But if you can't, here are some video settings I used to use so I could see the best. It will allow you to see snipers in the shadows, and the best distance:

                Terrain - medium
                Effects - low
                Geometry - high
                Texture - high
                Lighting - low
                Dynamic Shadows - medium
                Dynamic Light - medium
                AA - off
                Text Filter - high

Keep in mind those settings are for performance, and not to make the game pretty. I used to use these settings even when I could run on high everything, because vision-wise, it was best for competition.

                  Re: Graphics card does it

Yes the graphics card makes a difference.
When I first build my gaming rig 2 years ago I had an nVidia 6800 in it and it was awesome.
But last summer I put in a new nVidia 8600GTOC, and I can snipe people I never even dreamed about seeing before. Yes setting the view distance to 100% helps, but a cutting edge graphics card will make a huge difference too!
