Dear Gamers,
I bought BF2 a while back, failing to read the system reqs thinking my computer was "all that" and my 512MB ATI Radeon x1650 pro saphire could run anything. Anyhow, I needed to upgrade to SLI for flight sim x, so I just went ahead and bought two new Nvidia GeForce 8600GT 512MB cards, and got them SLI'd in my computer, installed the drivers on the included CD and it's all finally working pretty good. Only thing is, BF2 still launches the splash screen and crashes to the desktop. I installed the DirectX included on the BF2 install disk which is confirmed by the 'dxdiag' command in the run box of my start menu. (DX9.0c) So on the opening screen, I click the button that says "nvidia driver". I agree to the terms, use the default location, and 'yes to all' on the overwrite existing file prompt. THe nividia logo pops up and the install wizard launches when I get an error message reading "The nvidia setup program could not find any drivers compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now close." and the installation will not complete. I did actually get an error message instead of crashing straight to the dekstop that "bf2.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close." Other games that used to work fine with my ATI radeon give me the same error message when I try to run them as well. Are my old ATI drivers interfering? How would I remove them? What other advice can you give me? I really want to get this Bf2 up and running!
