when im playing bf2 online it crashes after a while and returns to desktop with no error message and it only happens in online play not singleplayer.any solution?

Post your full system specs please.
Also, make sure you have the latest drivers for your hardware, ie gfx card, sound card, motherboard. Be sure not to be using any cracked .exe files to launch the game or any ghosts hdd programs.
Other than that, i'm afraid its a bug in the game which will never get fixed as DICE/EA dishone their games. -
I'm having a similar problem, I havent played the game for a while,
After any major software/hardware changes you make above the original BF2 Installation always run the *last Full Patch* (1.41) at the end. That means if you upgrade your graphics driver, sound, keyboard, mouse or anything to do with BF2 Running.
I had the same problem last nite and that has fixed it for me but until the experts here see your specs thats all i can suggest.
Worth a try before you go reinstalling windows etc.............Comment
