    Upside to 2142

I fixed my pc and am back playing bf2 and 2142. Deep down I love to play bf2 but end up playing 2142 more. There are several reasons. The first being the map layouts. I think the maps on 2142 are just better thought out and not so compressed. Every time I play Karkand It's fun but there is absolutely no strategy involved. Secondly I think teamwork is more relevant in 2142. In bf2 90 percent of the people signing up to be a squad leader give no orders which makes no sense because they are losing out on points. And thirdly and most annoying. I can't stand the frag wars on bf2. BF2 is one of those games that when you reflect apon it or think about it you really wanna play but when you actually get into the game it's so f'ing annoying you play for 15 minutes and throw the keyboard across the room. I can't stand the fact that everyone stands around throwing grenandes for 3/4 of the round. If I had my way you would get three grenades per person per round with no possibilty or getting more. It's even so bad there there are people who virtually use nothing but grenandes and have mastered it so well that it's bloody annoying to play. You're expecting a gun fight or some exciting battles but you end up dodging grenades while people stand around spamming ammo and wacking off.

On that note, I'll retire both when bf3 comes along because they are becoming very annoying to play. Seems like the longer the games are around the trickier people become in employing down right annoying tactics. There used to be one map that was always nade spam and that was karkand. Now it seems that it's every map and many people have mastered throwing grenades with great accuracy. Now it seems like all maps are a nade war. I bet if you look at my bf2 stats you will see that I fell victim to nades in about 90 percent of my deaths. No matter where im standing or hiding nades land by me and I'm dead.

*sorry bout the bf2 talk. I was just pointing out why I enjoy 2142 more even though I like the setting and atmosphere of bf2 more. It's an odd paradox I guess. I get more giddy when wanting to play bf2 but actually enjoy 2142 more when it comes down to it.

i was thinking that 2142 would be funner without AR rockets and having only 1-2 nades instead of 3

I feel the same way. BF2 was fun for a while, but 2142 just feels so much smoother. I hope the next game in the series can capture both the atmosphere and gameplay of all the past games and still improve on it.

I want from 1942 to 2142, From what I've read, I'm glad I skipped over BF2. Allthough 2142s my first on-line FPS, I'm really impressed with how well it's balanced.
Allways look forward to some 2142 action, when I can.

2142 is more polished than BF2 - which is good as it clearly shows that they have progressed. Hopefully BF3 will be an even better evolution in the series....

Same here, BF2142 feels much more polished and better balanced than BF2... the only thing BF2142 fails with is the damn engine (looks good, sure, but it's not very stable). Both games are a lot of fun to play anyway

If BF3 is similar to BFBC I'm happy. That game looks amazing for being on a console.

I only played BF2 in single player. It's more my style without the futuristic stuff going on in 2142. But when hearing stories about Grenades and Jets in BF2, I am probably better off playing 2142 and hoping for a modern day combat BF3 with improved gameplay.

what's BF series w/o nade spamming? seriously, it's been such an integral part of the BF experience that although i hate it, it would be sad to see it gone. we all do it, and it's a guilty pleasure.

it started from the railroads of stalingrad and streets of berlin to now the corridors of titans and walls of camp gibraltar ruins. it has survived this long, and i don't think they will get rid of resupply in BF3.

in what other game can you hang out next to a supply box or supply crate and just chuck nades away like there was no tomorrow?

DICE has been aware of the nade spamming since 1942. if they decided to leave it through BFV, BF2, BF2142, then my guess would be they will leave it in for BF3. i could be wrong though (i hope they prove me wrong actually).

At least gunships are easier to fly in 2142 so you don't have two people just owning everybody the entire round. There were times that I absolutely hated playing BF2 because of those jet whores. I remember one round where I spawned in and my team was just stuck at our uncap. One jet would fly over our airstrip and bomb our jets before they could take off, and the other one would bomb the aa cannon. If you tried to leave to cap a flag, you would get artied before you made it halfway there. Rounds like that just weren't fun to me.

At least in 2142 any noob can jump in the gunship and put up a good fight against the enemy gunship--even if it's just to stall him to get enough time to cap a flag.

I never got the hang of throwing nades. By the time I pull one out, I'm already made into swiss cheese. Plus, in 2142 if I pulled the pin and threw the nade already it won't blow up when I die. W.T.F.

I agree, and if Dice/EA could leave out IGA it would be even better. Alot of people don't play 2142 because of that little white piece of paper they included in the packaging.

Im sure that the grenade used to be active after death in earlier patches. I remember throwing grenades, being shot down and then seeing a nice clutch of kills appear at the bottom of my screen. I wonder why this was changed.

Was it? I don't know if I remember correctly, but I thought I had killed a few guys after being shot down.

it is not changed at all. only sometimes you get a bug you earlier didnt got and vice versa after a patch even if it didnt do anything to it.

I prefer the gameplay of 2142 to that of bf2 but, I like the bf2 modern setting so much better. I also enjoy air assets in bf2 more. Other then that, bf2 drives me mad. I just wish they would implement the best of the series into one game and then some. Maybe listen to player input a little more.
