  • Would a perks system like COD4, work for 2142?

Probably not as easily accessible like COD4 where you hardly kill anyone and then start gaining perks. But probably an extra branch of unlocks available to players that either persist with one kit, or spend that extra amount of time in a certain vehicle?

Some ideas I thought of, could be:-
    • U/V scope for recon - when equipped, and scoped - it saw through smoke and explosions.
    • Tank driver - gun stabilization over rough terrain?
    • Support kit. Maybe a few different types of deployable turrets? Mini AA turrets (that shouldn't be made too powerful) - radar jammer turret?
    • Air transport driver. Maybe an EMP bomb - targetted through a fixed crosshair on the HUD. Coming into a landing zone/carrier deck, the EMP could be fired pretty much in the same way as the APC EMP - but downward. :P
    • Gunship gunner. Increased TV missile range?
    • FAV gunner - ability to swap the machine gun for a different type of weapon? Something like the assault's missile unlock?
    • Titan turret gunner - wider angles of fire? Quicker reload times?
To get these perks, or something similar, you would have to put a LOT of time into that role or class. I think having an extra icon/name tag against your player name would help identify your playing speciality for the rest of the team. Which if they were playing for the team win, should hand over the reins of say a gunship, to a gunship specialist. That would never happen, but it would be nice if it did!

It's just an extra 'bonus' for sticking with a certain job for so long. I've spent loads of hours in a tank and feel happy sticking with it. It would just add that something 'extra' to the game if I got some extra perks as a long term goal.

You could only ever be 'equipped' with one perk per game round too. Regardless of whether or not you were an uber-tanker and ultimate gunship flyer - you could only pick a perk branch at the start of each round.

UV scope for recon: yes this makes plenty of sense i like this

Gun stabilization: yes and no. caus if you put alot of time into driving a tank you probly wouldnt need that kind of stuff but then eh depends on the amout of time.

Turrets: Things that kill people for you are some of the lamest features of any game. One thing i found REALLY REALLY NOOBY about CoD4 were helis and airsrtikes.

    Emp Bomb: yes

Increased TV range: I dont think they fly far enough anyways. yes.

FAV gunner switch guns: Rockets?? no no no no. uh uh. that would be totally weakness giving more people bigger excuses to be women and hide in cars on infantry maps.

Titan turret gunner: eh idk if i played titan alot i might say no because a career titan turret user would be pretty pathetic and one of the most annoying things about the spam and partial randomality of titan is getting obliterated by titan guns.

I personally thought the perks feature in CoD4 was pretty silly though. some of your ideas made good sense for this game though. little extra kinds of things that dont heavily help you.

This seems stupid probly but i would be up for some kind of customization system where you can change little things about your soldiers appearance like different kinds of shoulder pads/knee pads and all that and then maybe thier animations like how they move around and stuff depending on what kind of armor theyre wearing

Well battlefield and cod are two differnt games, so i say no a perk system would not work. however the perk system is like player abilites.

No, it's not consistent with the Battlefield gameplay.

Having played Battlefield games since the original 1942 it just wouldn't seem to fit well - I don't even think unlocks are that great of an idea TBH.

The Tank guns are already stabilized.

Demize returns for a second just to disappear again

I really don't like the perks system at all, not in any game. I prefer if everyone has the same abilities (if you don't count different guns and gadgets)

perks/unlocks, kind of the same thing already.

If they were to add new unlocks, I'd like to see one for the engineers that let them cap silos faster... say some kind of hacking kit unlock that cuts a chunk off their neutralize/capture time. Could work for flags too.

As an engineer primarily - I'd love to see that one! :yay:

Playing engineer can be a lot of fun, but I've always felt they are the hardest class to excel with. Obviously they are unmatched where taking out vehicles are concerned, but vs. infantry, which you really see the most of, they have such a hard time being competitive. I've always wanted to see them get some kind of kit item to help them make up the points, like Assault has the medical hub and Support has the supply hub... I figure some kind of hacking kit would significantly beef up an engy's ability to work up some points and give them more incentive to move around the map instead of camping in certain spots and hoping a vehicle comes by for them to shoot at.

Two engineers, both in different vehicles, sticking together are unmatched.

And if the commander is on the ball, the occasional supply crate doesn't go amiss either.

The only thing that caught my attention was the EMP bomb for the air transport. That would be cool if added into the game. But it would be abusable if not tweaked and implemented correctly tho.

i think the EMP cannon should be added as a rear gunner, but made not very accurate and/or slow reload time.
