Finding servers problem!!

Hi, today i went wireless and everything was working fine, with browsing on the internet and downloading.
i decided to go on BF2 for a while
after clicking connect on the bf2 login page it took around 5 mins to finally connect.
carrying on i went onto multiplayer and then update server list
with some of my filters on 8 servers would appear and then stop with the updating server list still on. so i left it 20 mins and it still only had 8 servers with the updating server list message still showing!
i changed some of my filters and the max amount of servers it will find is 54!
some one please help asap as i play bf2 quite frequently.

Post your full system specs, internet connection, router (if have one) modem model and the distance you are from the wireless signal. Once we have this information we can then talk.

AMD AM2 athlon 64 x2 4200+ @ 2.6 Overclocked CPU
Gigabyte GA-M52s-s3p Motherboard
2GB corsar Value select DDR2

2 80GB Seagate drives

ColorIt 400w PSU

My internet is virgin media 2mb which is plenty plus before i went wireless it run without lag mainly.
the router is a ZyXEL 802.11g wireless firewall router.
I am about 2 metres away from the router and the signal is on 100%

Okay, now have you got any equipment in the room where the wireless router is that may affects its performance ie microwaves, radio's tv's? Any of these items in the same room of the router may affect the way in which the router operates.

Also, you have upto 2Mb Broadband, not 2Mb. Apart from that all is okay.

Have you secured your connection? Nobody else is using it?

Also, what OS are you using, If your using XP disable the wireless zero configuration as this can knack up wireless connections. Follow this guide for XP

If the problem still persists, scan you computer for viruses, malware, adware spyware,. i use spybot S&D, A-Squared, AVG,

I fixed it. The problem was that the firewall on the router was enabled to prevent Denial-Of-Service attack i disabled this and the logins and ammount of servers are back to normal. im thinking that the ping made the router think it was uder attack.
But now im thinking do i need this firewall enabled to keep my data safe and my dad and brother are bound to connect to the router so i am abit worried on the matter.
if you could voice me your opinion on what you would do id be very greatful,
