Ok, so ive started playing bf2 again, been playing with my caln, everytime i join, place for 5 seconds, then i CTD, so i re-installed, re-patched to 1.41 and i still crash

Make sure you have the latest Nvidia drivers...
...if that don't work update your sound card drivers if necessary

CTD's can be alot of things, but about 80% of the time its something to do with video. Update video card and monitor drivers. Do you have a widescreen monitor? ...that will do it too, in which case, a reinstall (and being sure to delete saved profiles) should fix that. Also read the sticky about widescreens for resolution settings. Have you had BF2 running on this computer before? ...if so, whats changed? Sound card drivers could need to be updated, that could cause it, but not as likely as video.
When does the CTD happen? right away? after login? when you try to join a server? ...all those will help to narrow the search for whats causing it.Comment
