The red dot sight is only used because I think most players prefer more range then silence.

On a 30+ server silencer is a little pointless when there always an idiot next to you shooting while your sneaking.

GL is semi pointless because unless you know you will be on a spammy server, bandolier is superior in most cases, even on a spammy server bandolier can net more kills then GL if you have the right gun.

I dont think its so much a 'positive' choice, but more of a 'well what else am I going to use?' choice.

EDIT: apart from AKs who ever puts a red dot on an AK47, uggh fugly. Iron sights even if you got nothing else.

I really dont understand why ppl take the ACOG over the red dot, it just gives you tiny bit more "zoom" and makes your weapon sway constantly

I don't really know why, but the snipers + acog for me are crazy.

I like using the RDS for long range sniper-like shots (Though it's always fun to pop snipers with a single bullet using the RPD's iron sights and a front grip). If I am actively assaulting an area or clearing rooms, I shoot from the hip just in case someone pops up around a corner. I am fairly disappointed with the ACOG, if the targeting blip was smaller or just a dot, I think it would be more effective. The swaying is also kind of annoying, but you get sway even with the RDS on almost all of the assault guns (except for the M14).
I am still not really used to hip shooting, but I found it is a lot more effective than I thought it would be.

Unless you're purposely aiming for a 100% "pure" gaming experience without them, you really are limiting yourself by not using attachments.

I zoom in all the time, even if they are right in front of me (assuming they did not pop out at me).. Just habit. I'd rather aim my shots than spray and pray.

Those weapons do have decent ironsights, but the red-dot gives you some increased zoom, and a better field of view.

And if you like the ironsights, then using a silencer will give you the benefit of extra mini-map stealth, at the cost of a bit less range.

Your choice is interesting. I've honestly not read about anyone saying they wouldn't use RDS at the very least, unless it caused a bug with the weapon or they wanted silence/stealth.

Only gun i use attachments on is a p90 (silencer) or a shotgun (grip)
