Why even have it...

After watching many many many many kill cams, I'd say about 95% of people with the red dot attachment that killed me do not even use it. Its all spray and pray with no use of the sights. Same goes for ACOG. So why do the majority of players have them on their weapon?

Anybody else notice this?

People use the scopes when they're at a distance. There's no point wasting time going into scope when you're up close with the enemy. I actually find the majority use their scopes or ironsights

Anyway, players probably have them on for those occasions when they want to make a long ranged shot. I use my scope the majority of the time because it improves accuracy. But, again, there's a time and place to spray, and a time and place to use sights.

I use my Red Dot and Ironsight quite often.

I have 3 main weapons that I will always use throughout the maps...
1) AK74U w/ Red Dot. USP as Pistol
2) M4A1 w/ Silencer. USP as Pistol
3) M40 w/ Scope. USP as Pistol

From afar, I will use my Ironsight and Red Dot, I am trying to teach my clan how to do it and when to do it because they either use it too close or don't use it when the person is too far.

I used to swear by the red dot, now I have found that the maps are so small anyways that I barely use it.

The iron sights in COD4 are no bad, and I have found that a silencer on many weapons is much more valuable then a scope most of the time.

I love the red dot, its really handy though, when i closeish i will just spray.

lol u kidding? the majority of people that kill me with the M4 or whatever use their reflex scopes all the time...

There are some weapons that I like the ACOG on. Specifically, the M14 and the G3. Those two particular weapons are crazy deadly at range, and that ACOG can help you get those headshots.

Normally i point shoot my SMG's with Steady Aim.

My other weapon is an M14, and I use the sights pretty much exclusively.

Practically everyone that kills me uses the red dot scope, and a minority of those use the ACOG scope. The only unscoped kills against me are usually the shotguns.

I really dont understand why ppl take the ACOG over the red dot, it just gives you tiny bit more "zoom" and makes your weapon sway constantly

Yeah, ACOG is basically pointless (in my opinion) because of the reasons waaah stated. You don't need the extra zoom, and it gives greater recoil and sway.

Between the red dot and iron sights, I think it's just a matter of personal preference.

I only use Acog in M4... I don't know why, but that's the only combo i use what has acog...

M14+Red Dot is really deadly combo to use. It's easier to see the target than with iron sights. No sway.. What else i have to say...

Sniper rifles with ACOG are close to useless, but man it's a lot of fun :)

Red dot ftw though, I wish we could pick that for sniper rifles (like crysis)

I trained myself to use the red dot from 12 yards and beyond. Closer than that and you can spray them dead.
