Game hangs while loading maps.

Heya. I've got a quick question. I've been playing fine all day today, then at around 1900 this evening my internet connection just refused to log onto anything. It was like my modem wasn't talking to my PC.

SO I rebooted my modem and my PC and after a while I gave up trying and watched TV. Around 2200 it started working again, so I logged onto COD4 again. Using my usual servers and the like.

First it only loaded as far as the "setting up game" screen, and stayed there indefinately. After shutting down and starting again it let me get into the game. As the map ended and it started with "waiting for server to load map" it hung again.

And this is where it stops every time a map loads. I have to exit the game and start it again, and then join the sever again. I can leave it on the "waiting for server to load map" for as long as I want, but it never loads.

When I Alt-Tab or Alt-Ctrl-Del it says Cod 4 is still running. Anyone have any advice?

And if I do need to re-install, how do I not lose my "stats"?

Alright well after me being used to the guy that leaves useless comments, I'll help you out here. Firstly, what are your system specs? I'm not sure why I would need this, it just seems like the right thing to ask. Second, are you having any issues with your regular internet (i.e internet explorer, firefox)? It sounds like its your internet causing problems, not your game. But, if you really want to try to reinstall the game, go ahead. Hey, it might work. It's a sticky at the top of the support section. Pretty much you go into C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\players\profiles\<your_name_here>
Unless you have vista... Then it would be C:\Users\<Vista Name Here>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\players\profiles\<your_profile_name>
Unless you have the steam version... Then it would be C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\Steam Apps\common\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\players\profiles\<your_name_here>

Lol.. Well in any case you would take your your profile, back it up somewhere, and when you are all reinstalled, then just put it back in the correct spot, patch the game, and frag on!

I was having internet problems when the problem started, yes, but when I stopped playing and came to post this the internet was working fine.
