cant get passed the rifle range - pls help

i'm stuck in the rifle range and cant get passed that room. it won't let me open the door - the furthest i've been able to get is when it tells me to go by the watermelon then it jus dumps me there. how do i get out of this room because they might as well pad the place because i'm going crazy in there. someone please help.

It does say sometimes in the middle of the screen to move toward the yellow circle on your compass, which is at the bottom of the screen and check your objectives too...
