    Ram

    Hello Folks

I just have a quick question regarding ram

On my new system I have 2 gig of ram, would I notice any speed difference if I put another gig in

Don't get me wrong my system is playing CD4 just fine, but I'm wondering if another gig would help

    Thanks

I've seen this question asked on a few different forums. Most tech savvy people have responded that generally speaking, if you have a 32-bit OS like WinXP or Vista32, then you don't see much improvement with more than 2GB of RAM.

If you have a 64-bit OS (Vista64, or the 64-bit version of XP), then you can up it to 3GB or 4GB and see some improvement.

It depends, if you have the 2GB in dual channel mode and want to add an extra 1GB you will see a decrease rather than an increase in speed as the dual channel mode will be obsolete then. Post your full specs.

Gaming wise you won't see much difference between 2 and 3... you will however see a difference if your processing alot of data and running multiple apps at the same time with starting and closing time. You have to break RAM down to understand it first off.. Random Access Memory... say that 3 times and you will understand.

Maybe it will improve loading times but I don't think there's noticeable difference.

Same. I did see a slight difference in Crysis though

Yea, but Crysis eats a lot more HW than COD4...

I saw massive difference in games going from 1-2 then I went 2-4 and now little to no improvement (Except in Crysis :p)
