    Please Help

    Hi , I love COD4 , playing since it came out, but it makes me so angry that i want to make it burn in hell.

    I get Lag online no matter what my settings are low,high,med,extra in and around the 40 and lower (to like 5 fps) which makes this game unplayable at best. Now I have troubleshooted the hell out of this computer and still no dice.

    Virus check,spy ware ad ware, defrag, Turning alot of programs off (21 proccess), temperatures and even went so far as to reformat just for this f'n game. The funny thing is that it works sometimes for awhile (flawlessy) at extra high at 1024 by 768 with like 60fps - 100 but then it'll sometimes crash at the menu or let me in but play online at horrid fps

    and also Single Player is fine, multiplayer is bad
    My system is a

    amd 3800+ NON dc
    asus m2n-e SLI board
    7800GT OC pci
    250gb sata drive
    LG combo drive
    3gbs of OCZ ram 2 x 512 GOLD XTC 2x 1gb OCZ Plat rev2
    Onboard Sound
    450w PSU (antec)
    running windows xp SP2 (firewall off)

    Im at wits end , i love this game but I cant play it so i want to fix it before i go and do smoething stupid and sell it.

      Be sure to update your video card drivers, and do a manual update of Punkbuster (FAQ at www.evenbalance.com)

              Might sound a bit stupid but, did you remember to plug in the extra power cable to your 7800GT? It might cause such an issue if you forgot to.

                  pluged in and good 2 go,

                  update, I updated my Chipset drivers for my mobo and it seemed to help a tad, its playable but not near its capacity

                          Have you tried running your own non-dedicated server on your own PC...do you still get the low fps?

                          other...

                          You might want to try the Nvidia Beta drivers, instead of the "official" ones.

                          Try totally disabling your sound devices...sound will sometimes be an issue in these newer games, and perhaps your onboard setup is causing a problem.

                          Try removing your 2x512MB of RAM (they're actually doing very little for you, since you're running XP (32-bit OS)).
