    Where did we go wrong?

First anyone that actually speaks to me on XFire or where-ever knows that I am a complete love of WiC, the SP and especially the MP so I thought I'd get that off my chest before I get flamed but I'd also like to say:

What went wrong? I've yet to actually read about people disliking the game but there is little forum activity here and there aren't as many servers as the game deserves.

The beta was by and far and still is the most stable game I have ever played, and I've done quite a few closed and open betas too. The full retail was released you know....finished which is nice to see in the climate that we see recently in the industry.

WiC has plenty of promotionals, there are a lot of free trials floating around in other game's that Sierra has made, all of the retail product's came with a full 10-day trial to give away to friends

Theres Massive's 2008 draft going on as well with the addition of a medal to reward those who recruit players, and of course the just started two week free trail for anyone that want's to download it get MP up until the 26th of March.

With all this promotion an excellent game I don't see why this isn't more popular, ok so the genre isn't the best selling in the market but I as rule play a lot more FPS than anything else but I really love WiC so much I can't describe it.

Was there a lack of pre-release hype? Did Sierra mess up with distribution and advertisements in the states and else where?

I just get a little frustrated when such an amazing game is neglected by the gamers, the devs and trying so hard to get people to just try the game and they'd see how wonderful it is.

I mean d@mn, it's not even that expensive to buy atleast here it's only £19.99 in store and you could probably find it cheaper online. It's not like it's a subscription based game either. You pay for the game you get wonderful support, regular patches and a epic game!

If nothing else I guess I'm commending Massive on a great game, and their outstanding effort at trying to make WiC up there with all the other games, a place that it rightly deserves. This is one of few games where devs have done things the right way and look what they've had

In essence what I'm saying is, TGN if every member hasn't tried this game I will personally send Alex around your houses to moan at you until you do

Also on a side note I've still got my 10 day trial from my retail game if anyone in the UK want's it I'll gladly send it to them PM if your interested).

I dont get it either.. With all the promo content around this game, youd think it would be huge. Maybe it's because it's just a new game.. Doesn't have any prequels to back it up. I dunno. Oh and about your trial, I dont suppose you'd extend it to Spain..? =P

The game kind of reminds me of Cloverfield. They had heeaps of stuff going on around it, with all the websites and conspiracies and stuff.. But that movie died pretty quick.

And yeah. These forums are almost dead. Its sad.

I'm not really sure whats going on either.WIC is a absolutely beautiful game, the worst complaint I have heard is arty n00bs $uck.Im guessing no one really wants to try something new. They hear the words rts and brush it off.Anyways im glad to see the free 2 week trial as its pumping some new blood in.Ive talked to some people in game who hadn't even heard of the game and were going to buy it as soon as the trial ended.

Well, they aren't as dead as the CoH forums... I think it is just the mentality of gamers today, not many want to get into RTS because some really gay World Of Warcraft type game comes to mind when you think about RTS' (which essentially isn't true). People are just afraid to differ from their FPS' and don't realize how great RTS' like WiC and CoH are!

hmmm... it just doesnt look appealing.. the graphics are stunning for an RTS .. I dont know in the gameplay videos it just looks like some very complicated not very user-friendly atmosphere of a game... and also it kinda seemed a bit slow in action.. yea big explosions .. but no action to use it against..

But hey I will give the 2 week trial thingy going on a try. I just dont wanna waste downloading it and it be not worth my time... /sigh well like i said ill just give it a try...

WiC is an amazing game with great replay value... Hopefully these forums will see a boost with the free trial.

I would buy WiC, but its way too expensive here. The cheapest I've seen it here was $75, which is way too much for it.

World in Conflict is an awesome game; I pre-ordered mine but I haven't played it much since about February.

Probably the reason why is cause it's a very heavily team-based game. Joining up into public servers where you get some randoms who usually don't work together really detracts from the gameplay and fun.

Mind you, I still do occasionally play the game because it's fun, just not as much as I used to.

You are looking from the wrong places then...

Here in Finland, i just saw the game for 30€(that's 46 USD or 23 £)...

Check from some online stores as well. They usually have cheaper prices than the stores..

I have checked online stores, aside from Ebay/D2D the prices are set quite high and I would prefer not to buy from them.

Hey, it's Australia, we always get high prices for everything.

The cheapest I've seen WiC for sale would be at JB-Hifi, you might want to check them out.
