You have to be on the titan before it blows up. Anywhere, including the sides work. I have gotten pins without ever even being inside the titan. And yes, I kill all of them I can. I've been killed plenty of times fleeing an exploding titan and that's just part of the game.

do you have to jump off only after it says "enemy titan hull destroyed?"
because i knew it was going to blow up soon so i jumped off before it said that.

i never let them go the titan pin is so easy to get. Sometimes if i am on the enemy titan i will hang back and kill the enemy who are trying to pick off our guys as they flee the titan. If our titan is about to blow i will pod to the rear lower level and kill them when they try to jump off. no pin for you :p Nothing better than denying the enemy another reward.

if you dont shoot kill them in the titan your going to have to kill them on the ground. if you get to the ground.

To get the titan survival pin, all you have to do is be on the enemy titan when it goes poof (that includes the back deck, or at least it used to), then jump off and land safely. You don't have to be the one who blew the core, and the core doesn't even have to be assaulted to get one - if you're on board when missiles finish the job, jump off, land, 10 points.

Having said that, since it's such an easy pin to get, I feel it's my duty as a BF2142 player to make them WORK for it. I count every person killed prior to leaving the titan as a mini-victory. Sort of an 'if I'm going down I'm taking you with me' kind of thing.
