new vid card help????

i am in the need of some help for a co-worker of mine. he got CoD4 recently as a gift however he can not run it on his current rig, and was looking to know if anyone here might be able to help him, he knows he needs a new video card, however he only has pci slot(s) available no pci express or agp, so will he need to get a new rig or not?

current sys specs are:
Athlon 64 3700
960 kb memory w/ integrated video however it is expandable to 4 gigs - currently 2 512 sticks
200gig h.d.
win xp w/ sp2

so does anyone know if either of those cards would be sufficient to run the game on or will he need to get some more upgrades?

I would not buy either one of those cards,get at least a 7600 series card.Go to tigerdirect or new egg you should be able to get a much better card than the ones u were looking at for less than 80 dollars.

Don't buy any of those, they will barely play the game smoothly. 7600 or higher preferably.

But really, he should get a new rig if he wants to play newer games.

Yeah, regular PCI wont cut it now adays.

You'll be lucky if you get 10 fps.

Those can barely run BF2 so they definitely can't run that.

Yeah, I'm going to have to agree with the other posts on here. It isn't even worth upgrading that. Just invest in a cheap core 2 duo rig. Though I would check back with us if you choose to do so.
I'm assuming its a prebuilt, which means that replacing the mobo is out. You could by a 939 mobo and a new gpu and another gb+ of ram plus a new case. That might solve your problem for now. Though the 939 socket is pretty much dead, and ram for it is pretty expensive.
