Unless I'm missing something totally obvious (i.e. not running the right version of 2142 server!) - I'm a little bit stumped on this one.
Essentially, me and a m8 wanted to try out a bit of co-op action on 2142. We both have the full retail box version of 2142 and I also have the Northern Strike add-on too. With his PC visible to mine via a 10/100 switch, I fired up the v1.40 2142 Server on a spare XP machine that I have.
I configure the server settings and Start the session and we both join accordingly to that server. It gets 99% the way through and just before the 'Join Game' icon appears in the lower-right corner, we both get kicked from my server.
The error that it reports is that both of us are kicked for running modified content. I'm totally puzzled on that one. I've never had that issue in the 200+ hours that I've put in online with 2142, nor on BF2 before it. According to some of the internet threads I've read, the exact same error appeared on BF2 and was resolved by a few people by repatching the game in a specific order.
Even if I install the 2142 server on my own PC and attempt to join to my own server session - it complains of exactly the same thing?
I have got both Windows Firewall and AVG installed and enabled. Would it be likely that these could be causing the issue? It kicks us both even if the PB option is disabled within the server settings too.
The other option is that the game thinks I'm running a hack. If I was knowingly doing such a thing, I wouldn't be stupid enough to post this thread on here.
It's just frustrating that error doesn't come back with any specifics - like a file or folder that it has the issue with. And I'd rather it kicked me straight away than letting it get 99% of the bloody way through!
Any ideas guys? I'll pretty much try anything.
Cheers,
