People complaining about 'tubing

I had an interesting run last night. We were playing a HC game of Sabotage, on Bog. A Map I happen to detest. Anyway, I was running my "long ranged" kit of an M14, a 1911, stopping power and deep impact.

I'd decided the turn before to kit my M14 with the Noob Toob, just for gits and shiggles, because I haven't used it before.

So I was shooting my 'tube at groups of badguys, you know, like it's meant to be used. And some guy kept on about how I'm level 55 and shouldn't be using the tube. About half way through the map I got tired of this and started using my 1911. (I love that gun).

My KD went for 10-8 to 32-14. I was literally running around stabbing, shooting and killing my way through the entire enemy team. But no one complained about that?

Seriously. I killed more people with my 1911 in 3 minutes than I did with my 'tube the entire game. Hell I probably KNIFED more people than I 'tubed, yet every time I dropped a 40mm grenade on a squad, I was shouted at.

What is the resoning behind this? Especially when everyone and his dog lobs 3 frags and a flash as the game starts?

My final score for the round was something like 47-17. With about 10 of those comming from a heli and an airstrike. about 5 from 'tubes, about 20 from my 1911 and my M14, and the rest from knives and grenades. But they only complained about the 'tube.

I think that part of the reason is that people get frustrated at the "unseen" kill from far away. Usually this involves snipers and blind nade spam, but now there is the M203 as well. You can do everything "right" in terms of movement, but still get nuked from half-way across the map by a guy several walls or buildings away. Or you can run into the guy who always has it equipped as his primary weapon in CQB...you may get one bullet off, but if he's just roughly aiming in your general vicinity, he'll most often blast you into pieces.

In some cases (definitely not all) it has somewhat of a "no skill" feel or reputation, perhaps similar to how some people feel about Martyrdom. I personally have no problem with it, although I'll admit to shaking my head when I see a guy on the killcam nail me with it from a long way off, even though I wasn't exposed and he only saw a flash of movement.

There's a guy in my group who is really great with all sorts of explosives, and I've got the utmost respect for how he uses the M203...especially in the different objective-modes, he's very good with it, and can wipe out several people at once on a regular basis and change the momentum of the round.

I say use it if you like. This game has many facets to it, and some people will complain about anything on the spur of the moment.

That is the only thing i hate when it comes to M203... I just can't stand the fact that i see in the killcam that the knob has been running half way across the map with GL equipped, and when you run into him, he shoots you with "Direct Impact"... :wall:

That is the time when i usually type "few" harsh words to the chat...

I've got like 3 direct impact kills. I was trying to lob the grenade miles, and someone springs out in front of me. Far too many times I had the grenade go bouncing off into the distance. Poing bounce bounce bounce <dead>

Either they feel embarrassed, or just plain feel bad when they get 'tubed.

I feel 10 times worse when I get knifed than 'tubed however. :p

Yeah, if you get tubed there's nothing you could have done about it, you were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Usually.

If it's a weapon choice in the game people should just suck it up and live with it. **** we got guys in our clan who have gotten really good with the RPG. For what effin reason I dont know but still.

I think everyone is about dead on. Its hard to counter the tube. All you can do is take cover, veer away, or kill the guy first. Since most people in this game dont seem to understand cover, its easier to complain.

Dont get me wrong, sometimes you dont have the chance for cover or to kill first, but it seems any grenade launcher always ends up being a noob weapon in the eyes of people. Same goes with claymores. C4 is OK, claymores is noob.

If I want to have fun, Im going to and you should too KBK. TUBE ON!

I have no problem with the toob. If I were to make a list of what killed me more, ordered from "most" to "least", it would be something along the lines of:

1. Regular weapons
2. Chopper
3. Airstrike
4. Knifed.
5. Last-Stand
6. Marty
7. Toobs.
8. C4

Maybe we should be screaming that people are using guns, how dare they!! :)

What I find hilarious is people complain about everything.

"OMG! C4mperz!!!" When you are protecting a bomb site.
'OMFG SNIpers are lame!" When you're hiding in a bush on Overgrown, sniping.
"OMG Spawn Raper!" Well at least I'm not camping my bomb site, right?
"OMG!!2! Nube Tube!"
"OH LAME, mousewheel shoot!" Actually I can just click my mouse, REALLY fast.
"Grenade spammer!" (I tend to agree with them on this one, but they are more pixel shots than spam)
"Hax heli!" (Tend to agree with this one as well. The number of times I've been chaingunned inside a building....)

After a while it's like :What am I meant to do? Stand here and let you shoot me?
