BF2 connection issues

I just decided to update the old original BF2 and it said that I need to get special forces to connect to any servers playing. So I bought the patch, after it was done downloading I tried it again. It says I have an older version on any server I click on. Also I didn't know, but everytime I start BF2 SF it makes me put in my first installer cd from the original game. I just don't know were to start to fix this problem. Can anyone help?

if you just installed special forces (SF), then you need to repatch your game to the latest patch which is 1.41.

follow this install order:

BF2, SF, 1.41, EF, AF, 1.41, Highway Tampa

so assuming you installed SF, you then need to patch with 1.41. if you also have euro forces and armored fury install them then patch again. finally install the 'highway tampa' update.
