    Problems patching BF2

Hey everybody. I just got a new sweet computer, an XFX 8800GT and a P5N32-E SLI mobo being the star of the show.

Anyways I installed BF2 fine, I went to patch it. I downloaded the 1.41 full patch from both EA and Filefront. When the patch is installing, it gets to a folder called Objects_server , then quits. It says that "Setup.exe has encountered an error...needs to close...would you like to send an error report blah blahblahblahblah"

Has anyone else had this problem? What is there that I can do to fix it? I've tried reinstalling BF2, I've redownloaded the patch four times, it doesn't work. Right now my best guess is a corrupted installer (If it is, where can I get a new one?). Any ideas?

    check out the tech thread:

they recommend trying to install with only 1 stick of ram, and some other things to try.

are you overclocking or have any other unusual setup?

My 8800Gt came overclocked to 640Mhz (600 is the normal). But as far as I know there's nothing out of the ordinary. I'll take a look there and see if I find anything.

Ah ok. Problem solved, I just downloaded a BitTorrent version of the patch and it worked. Oh well, I'll never know what was really wrong with it...

What was really wrong, was a bad patch or download. I have the same motherboard, and your going to love it ...good choice. :-)
