Battlefield 2 Deluxe Edition or Battlefield 2: The Complete Collection

I have been looking at the 2 games as mentioned in the title, the difference appears to be that the 'Complete Collection' get 2 booster packs, what are the booster packs ? I have standard BF2 but wouldn't mind getting the extra unlocks.

The extra unlocks are available already in Special Forces, no need for boosters. The booster-packs are just new maps and some new vehicles and weapons.

If you already have standard BF2, don't get either as they have BF2 in them as well. I'd say to just get the Special Forces expansion if you just want the unlocks.

It's a damn good expansion pack as well. Special Forces is also faster paced than vanilla but it's a nice change if you're looking for something new.

I would mirror this comment, and add that the Armored Fury expansion is very good. I can always find a server playing AF as well.

Great thanks for the info, I'll give the expansion pack version a miss in that case.
I was thinking of getting Deluxe so that I can give my existing BF2 to my son (guess I'd need to uninstall that first) so long as I could keep my existing login then that's good.

SF is worth getting, i would not say the same about the boosters though, dont get me wrong they are not really bad just hardly any players on them now and they get old fast.
