    Ping Instability.

I recently bought The Battlefield 2 Complete Collection from the EA store and downloaded it from the EA Download Manager.

My ping has been unstable in the game, it jumps from 8ms to 200+ like every half hour or so.

I am sure its not an internet issue, as I play Counter Strike:Source and Team Fortress 2 and have no ping fluctuations at all in those games.
I am sure its not a performance issue, as I am playing at the lowest Battlefield 2 settings with the following system specs:

    -Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU @ 2.40GHZ
    -Memory (RAM): 2030 MB
-Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT
-Hard Drive Space: 60GB, 22 GB Free.
-Operating System: Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit

    Troubleshooting carried out:
    -Reinstalling,
    -Redownloading,
-Checking my firewall that it allows Battlefield 2 through,
-Making sure no other unecessary programs are running... ie. torrent, EA Downloader, etc.
-running ping through cmd.exe and pinging the servers which I play on in BF2, resulted in 0% package loss and ping was stable.
-ran UoTrace.exe... and got 0 package loss
    -setting pb_sleep 500 and then entering pb_writecfg,
    -reformatting and reinstalling windows,
    -and defragmenting my hard drive,
-making sure my battlefield is up to date to 1.41 ( the game comes downloaded as 1.41 anyways).

    Observations:
-When changing the volume during the intro scene or when the game is loading I often get a blue screen of death... no matter how many times I have reinstalled.
-I can run the game smoothly at 1680 x 1050 at high settings, but the fluctuating ping is a problem, singleplayer/creating a local game with 32 bots, runs smoothly otherwise.

Any suggestions or help will be great! :)

Not sure if you did this while checking the firewall, is any anti-virus protection on?

Are you joining servers that are close to your country/vicinity?

      Nope no antivirus is on,
Yeah I am in Ottawa Canada, joining a server in Quebec where I get a ping of 8 ms.... which jumps to 200+... from time to time

here attached are results from my UOtrace.exe

Again its not a network problem, as I can play with 50 other people in CSS without any fluctuations...

Close any other background programs, like EA downloaders, they do take bandwidth when they are on.

Whenever I launch the game, EA Downloader starts aswell.

Update- OK, closed EA Downloader(thankfully there were no issues connecting to a server), ping still jumps from 8 to 280 from time to time
and the fluctuates around 180 then goes back...

          Any other suggestions?
BTW- I am still trying this at the lowest video settings.... like 50% viewing distance

What kind of connection are you using?

              Cable? Wireless?

I am using an ethernet connection with 8 mbps...

When I use low video settings my ping settles down from 280 much quicker....

When I use high video settings my ping really goes up and down like a roller coaster to 600+ and back to 50 or something...
