System Reboot/Boot to Desktop + Other issues.

Well, the base of my issues used to lay with PB; it used to give me Communication Error messages; I figured this may have been the windows firmware ( I run an ATI X1650 for a video card, for those who are not aware. Firmware hates it)

So I uninstalled and reinstalled my ATI Drivers; which fixed the issue as I no longer get PB messages (Yet) or any kind of system start up message with the MOM.Implementation file missing.

So I reinstalled the drivers, restarted and went to start the game. I got in fine, played for about three minutes then the screen goes black and it restarts my computer. So I tried three more times with the same issue, the last try booted me to desktop; then I had to restart from there because my resolution reset itself (My native res is 1600x1050, reset to 1600x1200)

I have deleted the cache files and updated all nesc drivers and been actually fighting Battlefield itself for the past month (PB issues and now this). I am at the end of my rope so I am appealing here for some kind of help. It's driving me nuts; I just want to play!

have you tried updating punkbuster? also try to search for virusses/spyware and do a complete defrag on your pc. after you scanned for virusses/spyware delete all your unneeded files. i would advide ccleaner as it is very handy and good.

Yes I have scanned for Viruses/Spyware with Norton and found nothing. I also have already updated PB twice but it didn't permanently solve the issue. I will defrag my computer and see how it works then; thanks for the advice.

norton sucks. it destroid nearly my pc as it wanted to delete the map system32. get a better antivirus. when i got other antivirus/spyware scanners they found a whole lot of virusses norton said to have deleted but failed to. or he hadnt even detected them. i use hitmanpro for antispyware/antivirus scanning. it combines the best program on the net for antispyware protection and as an additional protection it gives you an antivirus scanner. its free but there are some thing you need to buy after there trial period is over.

I had a hunch it might be Norton (When I installed it; it hated me) So I might go out and buy Mcafee (Was good to me last year) when I have the chance.

ok i hope that will solve the problem. norton hates everyone just like bf. and norton hates bf so it will give problems.

Reinstalling and patching BF right now, hopefully it won't be much an issue. If it is then I will be removing Norton and replacing it with another setup.

when i uninstalled norton i still had troubles. There is still crap on your computer I bet. Goggle it there should be tools out there to get rid the rest of the junk nortin left behind.

Avg and avaist are to very good free AV.

System reboot usually happens when there is a critical error or overheat.
I would check gfx card temperature and see if the fan is running properly.
Speedfan is free and monitors all temperature sensors.
AtiTool shows gpu temp and lets you adjust fan speed.

Ran ATI tool and had my card running as hot as 90 C for GPU. I managed to lower it to 60 C with overclocking my fan. Now to test BF again; thanks Natt

Yeah, 90C is way to hot, can you check what your CPU is running at also, that may be overheating...

Well, that was testing max temp. The average was 76 or so; as I said I got it lowered to 60.

But I found the actual problem; it was Norton all along. The issue was pretty bad as it caused crashes; restarts, PB errors for no reason and really bad graphical glitches. So for anyone thinking of running Norton...don't, for gods sake don't lol.
