    console's getting new maps...

    "Hey Charlie Oscar Delta,

Activision and Infinity Ward confirm that new downloadable multiplayer maps are on the way this spring. In development for both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the upcoming downloadable content will thrust gamers into new combat zones across a variety of intense multiplayer locales."

But, what maps are they? the user-created one's? official one's?

Woot sounds great, I am sure they will release all that in good time. I would say they would pick the best user map and throw some of theirs in with it.

Its my belief that the announcement omitting the PC was a simple mistake and the PC will get some of that downloadable goodness. We're not talking about EA here after all..

New Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare DLC Maps On The Way

I’ve got some big news I know that everyone has been waiting on official confirmation of and I’m excited to let you guys know that we’re currently working on some official new maps for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare that are going to be available as DLC in the future for the Xbox 360 and PS3. Last week I let you know that we were on the look out for the best community-made maps, but this week I can let the news out that we’re working on official IW-made maps of our own as well behind the scenes.

These new maps will be adding even more variety to the online multiplayer of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and I’m excited to gradually share more details regarding the new maps as we progress. So keep your eyes tuned to the blog as I’m going to be sharing sneak peek details and insights on what you can expect as we get further and further along with the DLC.

PC users have the mod tools = more custom content than the console users will ever get.

Yeah, but user content never feels polished, it doesnt (usually) get put in rotation with the other maps, and not many people play them =(

We all should get the same content regardless of platform

Console users get approved ranked maps because they can't play custom mods and maps, it's a very fair trade-off and you should be happy that you get what you do, and not complain that someone else gets something different.

It's kinda hard to do custom maps on consoles.

They get maps made by IW and i bet that the number is under 10. We did get mod tools what has bumbed PC's map count to double digits...

I didn't find my game in a dumpster or secret it in my coat without paying, I paid, so I should get the professionally developed content, and it doesn't cost them anything to roll out those maps for all platforms.

I've played custom maps before for other games, glitches and bad map making make for an unpleasant experience.

there's no justifiable reason to exclude the PC market and I don't foresee them doing so.

the consoles will also be getting a patch sooner or later (bout time) and then the maps will shortly follow, apparently
