Creating a game?

Ive looked if someone had all ready posted this,but i didnt find anything.
Why cant i make my own server?When i start playing i ask my friends to join and they just dont seem to find my server.Even if we can find other servers
and join,we just cant make our own and play 1vs1...wots the problem?

Check the ports on your router. You need to have your server running off ports that are open, otherwise people will not be able to see your server.

What kind of server management software are you using the make your server?

wow much more complicated than i tought!I dont use any software.In cod2 i just made a game and my friends would join.
p.s:im not good at this computer stuff,i only got 1 'used' port,for my internet...

Ha, yea ... running dedicated servers off your computer is a much bigger chore than you think.
